Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Attack of the late '90's! Bordered layouts were all the rage back then. All this site needs is a MIDI.

First off, when you have a tiling background, make sure it tiles correctly. The border here is cut off at the feet and you can see the line where the image repeats. And, when you set your table width too low, the border tiles horizontally, looking like crap.

Now, onto the actual main section. Fabulous header there. 800px wide, why? Why is the text centered to make it so tall? Why bother making a header that doesn't match anything else on your site, anyway?

Blinking text! I haven't seen this in years. It's almost as bad as marquee text style. Anyway, red is not the best choice for text either, but at least it's large enough that I'm not squinting at it. Yellow is also not a good choice for links on a white background. Ever.

Awwww! Look at the useless "emboss" technique used on all the buttons to make them look "3-D". I remember when I used to do that and thought it looked good. Please don't use this on a modern site, kiddos.

And finally, those gigantic tabled Webring eyesores. And lots of them. Seriously, put these on a link or other designated page. They're fugly.

Well, at least this site is consistent. And that's about the only nice thing I have to say, so I'll leave it at that.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Ptilol

There's no written content, save for "I want Venus Merchandise!!" and since this site was last updated in '98, it's not likely that there will be written content.

Ah, the flightyness of anime fans.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Tellu

So I'm doing media this week - yay! Looks like this page is all about media. Unfortunately, the first thing that I see notes how the webmaster has "collected" the images in her gallery from the 'net. ::groan:: ugh. So I'll just go check out the image gallery and see how that goes. The thumbnails are all skewed and misshapen. Yuck! The quality of the actual pictures is ok. Not the best I've seen, but not the worst, either. The real problem with this gallery is the lack of quantity. It seems that the gallery is a major part of this site, but there are only 36 images in the whole thing! The navigation is also very bad. Each page has a link to the next page, so you really don't know how many gallery pages there are until you reach the end. The end, at this time, seems to be page 5: it gives me a 404 error.

There are more images in the card scans section of the site. The images are a little on the small side, but not too bad. When I clicked on the "Merchandise" page, it just showed me a link back to the card scans page. Lame. ::sigh:: This site really needs more content!!!
