Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Tellu

Splash page... big clunky useless webring banner... lalalala...

So I go to the main page, and see a BIG RED BLOB OF TEXT. It's ugly, and it doesn't match with the layout, of course. Well, I read it, and it seems to be a big load of crap. Being a college student with an insanely strenuous degree, I can assure that everything this girl is saying is bull. What teacher assigns a "50-page research paper" over a YEAR??? To be presented in front of a "committee" of "500 professors?" I don't think so. I could write a 50-page research paper in a month, and it would take some serious research for my field. This girl wants to go to dental school Right, then. So her story is that she didn't back up her files and some one "hacked into" her email and deleted her paper. Um, sure. And I'm the Wizard of Oz.

Ok, ok, I know I'm supposed to be doing the layout, but I got a little side-tracked. Bright red, bold text tends to do that to you.

Moving on, the blue is just a little too light to be easy on the eyes. Otherwise, the picture at the top looks decent, and everything is organized well. It just seems a little plain and boring. Much like the content. Oops, did I say that out loud?

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Eudial

Alright, seems this site was the victom of a hack job. That is regrettable. I've seen many a sites get hacked, and their hard work get destroyed. I dont know. I feel that those hacking type have nothing better to do with their lives. Anyway, Im going to get started. I apologize for my rant.

Jumping right to the information section. Well, im reading the History of the Moon Kingdom bit right now. I cant remember the manga too well, but I dont recall the outer senshi being involved in the final battle at all. In the manga it says that they were on the lookout, fighting outer solar system threats, and by the time they saw waht was happening they couldn't do anything. I believe I'm right. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Also, I'd like the point out that the manga never actually said that the Shitennou and the Senshi were lovers. It is hinted by Kaito Ace that there may be some connection, and there's a picture of the two parties together. However, thats all. And my last bit on this, his name is spelt "Zoisite."

There seems to be a small section on the voice actors and on the creator, Takeuchi Naoko. Nothing incredibly stellar here. It's what you usually see on Sailor Moon fansites. Moving to Character Profiles:

One thing, Usagi is not known as a "walking disaster." She's a dumpling head. I'm sorry, but I need to rant again. This person's grammar sucks! Now, you may say, "Your grammar isn't good either, Eudial." I realize this, but my god. Their spelling and sentence construction are horrible. It's actually worse then mine, if thats possible. Other then that, the character profiles are decent. Very typical information seen.

I'm reading the Attacks and Transformations section right now. Its the names of the attacks and transformations in english and japanese. Also, there is a description of each. One error I see is in Sailor Mar's section: "Anti-Evil Sign" Thats not what its called in Japanese. Its "Akuriyou Taisan." For Venus, its not "Venus Crescent Beam Smash," its just Crescent Beam. For Pluto, I'm sure its not "Dark Dome Close." Its "Time Stop." And finally, for Tuxedo Kamen, they forgot "Tuxedo La Smoking Bomber."

The rest of the information doesn't exist. Ok, my analysis...this person messed up quite a bit. At least, in the attacks department.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Mimette

Alright Media. Haven't done one of those in a while, so here goes.

First off I hit the "Games" category. I tested the "Chocolate Math" and it doesn't work. It told me that I was 18 years old. As much as I might be mentally sometimes, I am not. Tack on some more years to that and we can talk, but for now.... no.

Ask Rei isn't so much of a game as it is just a form with an automated response. Rather lame if you ask me.

The third link in this section is a "Love Test". I am starting to wonder what this person considers a game as this is just like the last one in that it is a form with an automated response... And then right after this I have the ever ripped off "You know you watch too much Sailor Moon when". I remember the ORIGINAL site that had this and I have subsequently watched so many others rip it off from that site and all the others that stole it in the first place. It is old, and should be trashed.

Astrology, Japanese Phrases, Japanese Vocabulary (can you guess what two sections I am going to beat to death today?), a couple of quizzes..... and THEN something that MIGHT pose as a game which is the "puzzles". What the hell was this author thinking in calling this a "Games" section?! But for fun, lets go beat the Phrases and Vocabulary to death a little bit.

Alright ladies and gentlemen! Lets play "figure out what anime they learned these terms from!" *listens to the crowd cheer*

Ok, I went through most of the "phrases". Whereas the meaning of MOST of them is right there are some SERIOUS spelling errors. If you are going to romanize it, at least spell it right. However this next line is going to make even the newest at Japanese laugh their asses off.

Watashi wa ichiroku sai. This statement is translated as "I am 16 years old." No, what you said was that you are "One Six years old." Lemme guess you just threw some numbers together off a website right? Way to go there. Oh Oh even better! They give a link to their "number reference" which is on their own site! *falls over kicking and laughing* Now kiddies.... what have I told you? Learning Japanese over the internet is a bad idea. So please stop thinking that you are in ANY way in a position to "teach" it to the rest of the peons that will actually believe you.

Lets check that "vocabulary" and see if you can name the series that they learned some of the terminology from.

You know I am not THAT well versed in Japanese so I could be wrong here, but I have never even heard of this word "Anikh: Elder brother, mentor". Nor do I know of ANY word that is romanized other than names that would be spelled like that. Any suggestions what animation the owner picked this word up from?

And now a list of the ones that are wrong.

Ano: Umm.....like(slang)
Bakemono: Monster
Dozoi: Please
Hime: Princess (Add sama at the beginning when you address one) since when do you add an honorific at the BEGINNING of anything?
Iko: Let's go
Jodan: Joke
Kudasi: Please (not wrong, but a wonderful spelling error)
Min'na: Everyone
Mina-san: Everyone (formal)
(somebody tell this reviewer what is wrong with this picture)
Odango atama: Meatball Head (lemme guess you learned this translation from Dic personally right?)
Okari: Welcome back

Oh and the grand piece of the day. Her numbers and their rules. Remember poeple she is one six years old, yet she has this rule in her numbers...

Starting from 10 you add juu before the number like juuni which is 12.

Oh! More "media"!

First there are song lyrics. Given that I an assume that this author's native tongue is english, and going by their botched and thoroughly butchered used of Japanese... I can ascertain that the lyrics from the Japanese songs have been ripped off from somewhere and by reading the credits I don't see ANY mention of where they were snagged from. Way to go thief! You know for us that are actually trying to LEARN the language, you just took our work and claimed it as your own so that you could have a shitty Geocities website (don't let the masked location name fool you as I looked into it) full of incorrect content and crap.

I got to the episodes section and I was met with a blatant lie. If you read the wording of what I am about to show you, you will understand why I assume it is a lie.

I know you guys have been wondering what the hell has been happening to the episodes section and I will tell you the truth. One of our members has managed to hack into my email deleting all of your email addresses and destroying all my files (including most of my BSSM episodes).

Now here is my question. How do you destroy files from hacking into "email"? Yeah you figure it out.

After the whole long schpeal of bullshit we get this "I am really angry and disappointed, I never imagined that people can be so cruel." Yeah, think about your "Japanese" and you will have a slight idea of what cruelty is. Flat out, people don't hack others without a reason. You did something wrong and apparently you got what you deserved. You should have made sure that your system was secure and up to date. Your loss and your stupidity. I hold no sympathy for you. Now onto the next section.

Midi section is a joke in this day and age. The MP3 section is a cocktease at best considering you have to "follow rules to REQUEST" the mp3 files. I would rather go over to Sailormusic.net thanks.

And then there were "wallpapers". These are NOT good... in fact, nowhere near it. Blurry images, brushes everywhere, poorly cut images.... text all over the place. Plus even better, they are ONLY in 800x600. I think I would rather have a picture of Kirby splayed all over my screen than these.... ok maybe not as that just made me sick to my stomach to even THINK about. I am going to go scrub my brain and eyes and maybe stomach with bleach now. See ya next week folks.
