Layout & Design Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing? |
ViluyI got a huge laugh reading this site (even though I'm doing layout this week *grins*). I just find this sort of thing highly amusing *chuckles* Anyway, moving on, the layout is about as basic as you can get, although I am of two minds whether or not the webmaster used something like Dreamweaver, FP or other generator to code this site. I had a look at the source coding (which includes such gems as ###insert s***** content below### and my all time favourite: ###quit reading my html code you a** parade###) and I've never actually seen a site designed quite like this. It uses tables that behave somewhat like frames. You'll have to forgive my rather limited html coding/viewing experience. I just love the comments, must remember to use something like it *grins* Code aside, the pages are very basically set out, with an amusing crybaby Usagi/Serena gif with a banner-type thing at the top and your basic navigation menu at the left-hand side. The colours used are rather hideous but I suppose it gets the message across that this guy hates SM and anything to do with it. The actual content is poorly written but that's for Cyprine to deal with *pats* I just hope she's got a good eye doctor who will be able to help her poor bleeding eyes *winks* In summary, it's easy to see why the webmaster didn't really waste much time doing a nice layout for an anime that he dislikes. Just a shame he wasted his (and our) time on making a site at all, however, that being said, it IS highly amusing and gave me so many laughs, I suppose it was worth it just for the laugh factor. |

Written Content Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content? |
CyprineWow, not only is this the first time that the Lil' Cyprine on my shoulder will get to review the written content of a site, but our very first review is going to be for an anti-SailorMoon site. I'm still in awe that sites like this exist -- they're like those mythical creatures that everyone talks about but no one actually sees. Either way, I'm not going to take points off for being anti-SailorMoon. To each their own -- if you want to waste your time bashing a show you think "sucks", then more power to you. I'm not playing favourites just because I agree or disagree with someone. The site opens up to an updates page which immediately lets me know that though this site hasn't been updated since March of 2004, it's being updated long past what would be understandable for a site dedicated to a TV show that hasn't been on the air for years. Immediately, I'm certain this is going to be a new kind of fanaticism written by a serious masochist -- if you hate the show this much, then we have to wonder why you continue to subject yourself to this kind of pain? Alright, so the "most recent" (re: a year ago) update is pretty much representative of the entire site: this site is as much a spoof on fansites as it is a BSSM hate site. The webmaster adds an update, for no apparent reason just to remind us that "Sailor Moon is stupid", but actually includes no site updates in the site update. They are basically taking every excuse possible to hammer us over the head with that editorialized opinion. The webmaster claims to have been updating this site for seven years, but in that seven years, they seems to have learned nothing about punctuation, grammar or spelling. The overall flaw of the written content is that it is written like a giant rant of a screaming, five year old child and the lack of grammar and organization makes it virtually impossible to read clearly. What's also immediately evident is the webmaster's xenophobic dislike of foreign cultures. Part of their reasoning for hating the show, and the punch line for most of the webmaster's jokes, is a mockery of the Japanese language, as if this were basis enough for hating a show. For example, the webmaster cites the high-pitched voices of the Japanese anime's voice actors, never taking a moment to consider that the "high pitch" of the voice actors may be a product of the Japanese language, culture and history of anime. What might have been a great opportunity to at least present a compelling case for disliking Sailor Moon falls apart becaus eo fthe webmaster's own rather hysteric preference for the "shock and awe" treatment -- rather than write out a logical reason as to why BSSM might not be a great anime (and there are many), the webmaster instead uses sections like "General Plot" to present half-witted, poorly thought-out and not really all that funny caricatures of the show and its characters. As much as all of us love to mock the SOS campaign, again, this site does it poorly by ignoring the opportunity to point out the serious flaws in SOS in favour of merely mocking the site's diction and grammar. Why should we make fun of SOS? Why should we see through the phony campaigns and flawed information? Unfortunately, Sailor Moon Sucks doesn't provide the answers. The Art of Word was just as useless, making poor jokes of something we already know is pretty lame -- the DiC dub of BSSM, kid-ified for North American viewing pleasure. Meanwhile, mockery of the Live-Action was actually vaguely amusing, although I'm not sure a wan smile really counts as the kind of side-splitting humour I'd call quality. I'm not quite sure what the point is of the "Bad Voice Actors" section since it, first and foremost, only mocks a single voice actor, apparently the filmography of the woman who plays Sailor Moon in the DiC dub. However, I'm not entirely sure what belittling the woman's previous acting gigs does to solve any point, and neither is the section funny, clear, or anything more than textual masturbation. Reading it, I can feel my brain cells shrivel and die -- I don't know what these previous filmography references are nor do I get a good sense as to why I should laugh at them through this page. Another totally pointless section is the 'Good Anime' section which doesn't give me any good reason why the anime listed should be considered in any way better or worse than BSSM. As much as I don't want to take off points for the webmaster's opinions, they do lose what little credibility they have for calling all those who emailed them hate mail "retards". Not that I should chastise a site like this for being un-PC, but, really a person who has been keeping a site for seven years is obviously old enough to know better. I do admit that that the 'Hate Mail' section did crack me up. Here's where the webmaster's snarkiness truly shines, and the targets of their mockery do deserve it. It's a momentous display of immaturity all round watching a buffoon try to mock other buffoons who would waste their time flaming him. Surprisingly, only a few links on the Links Page are broken, even though the site hasn't been updated in over a year. Proving that haters are possibly more obsessive compulsive in their hatred than the fans are of their fanaticism Broken Links:
In conclusion, this page just kind of sucked. There was nothing particularly witty, funny or appealing about the webmaster's brand of humour that would keep anyone, BSSM fan or anti-fan alike, coming back. The only section worth looking at, as far as written content, was the Hate Mail, and the webmaster can really only claim half the credit for that. |

Visual Content What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally? |
Eudialoooo boy. lol.Ok, well, the only real multimedia thats on this site is in the "Sailor Moon Music & Games & Crap" section. Grammar tip!!! Its supposed to be "Sailor Moon Music, Games, and Crap." Never put "&" twice. It just looks REALLY bad. Yea...the multimedia WORKS, however, the japanese intro song is NOT Moonlight Densetsu like its supposed to be. Instead, this person's got like a techo version of it. >_< And the "credits song," oooooo boy! It sounds like some really bad rock song. Definitely not Sailor Moon related either. Under the "random J-Pop Sailor Moon," thats the opening to the final season of Sailor Moon, Sailor Stars. Definitely a wonderful song..*saves song onto hard drive* Ok, in regards to all the images and such on this site. Well, dispite that some of them have absolutely nothing to do with sailor moon, or general anime in that matter, they all indeed work. One thing that baffles me...why the hell do u have HENTAI on your site when it says "This site is hentai free?!?" I mean, cmon! Do you even know what hentai means? Hentai = pervert. Hentai is also used to describe a form of porn that uses anime characters in it. Do your research!!! Argh! Well, dispite a really odd site, all the media does indeed work. Though, i definitely question the quality of these images. |
