Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

I admit I feared the worse when I opened the page and discovered a tiny box for a layout, but never fear, it's just the index that looks like that. It's more of a strange hybrid between splash page and index. The rest of the layout is full screen.

I can't say I'm impressed by the layout. It's neat and organized with clear navigation, but it really isn't all that visually interesting. We've just got chibi-Moon in the corner and some text images for naviation. That and a whole lot of orangy-yellow, which I'm not fond of for the main color of a webpage.

There is a new image in the main content portion of each new section, but they don't match the section and are not altered to fix the site. I think they would look better if they were made into actual headers for the section instead of just hanging around the side.

Normally when I get layout I'm ready to go into a frothing fit, but I'm rather pleased to say that this layout is pretty decent.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

OW! Oh Hell! I have a headache and the bright yellow really isn't helping matters.
Today I am reviewing written content, so let's get on it.

Let us first deal with the site's title. "Star's Sailor Moon". Star's Sailor Moon what? Star's Sailor Moon toothpaste? Star's Sailor Moon crayons? This is why fragmented sentences are not our friends.

It takes me three clicks, but finally I get to Sailor Moon's info.

Oh, charming. "Sailor Moon" has a lowercase "m" and I love this sentence: We first meet Serena as a Crossroads Junior High student who is not very brave.
...Wait, what? Is it me, or did they imply that the school was the yellow bellied one?
Moving on...

Near the end of the middle paragraph, it mentions Luna, but makes no attempt to tell us who Luna is. Would a simple "Her feline guardian" trailing behind be so difficult?

And then she forgets to capitalize "Sailor Moon" one more time for good measure, then we have generic stats.

Next senshi, please?

Ok, each info page is equally mediocre.

Episode guide is just a title and a one or two line summery of the episode.

Lyrics have dub soundtrack lyrics.

Well, that was resoundingly ...generic.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

I'm heading straight for the image gallery, and there's nothing here that makes me think, "Wow, this is great." The site has a decent amount of images, but none are very good quality. In fact, I see a lot of VERY common pictures that are just bad quality - there are plenty of other versions of those on the internet that are great quality. So why are the ones here so bad? A lot of the pictures are also very small. If I was looking for a good image gallery, this is NOT the place I would go. Since the quality of the files varies so much, it seems like a lot of these were probably just plucked off of other websites. I especially love the way this webmaster claims to "only use the finest quality pictures." Cocky much?

Moving on the music ssection, there are a few MIDIs and some lyrics. BORING!
