The Sailor Moon Pocky Box : Reviews

Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Eudial

Ok, the splash page isnt centered, which is what you usually see. This isnt a big deal, I suppose. What concerns me is that when the cursor hovers over the links, the page acts up and some of the links move toward the center.

Layout it is. Umm, we got a generic update area with some a very small naviagation bar on the top of that. Color wise, there's nothing wrong with the layout. However, this page is lacking something. Its lacking some real eyecatching art and such. This is what I like to call "flash." Without flash, this site looks rather dull.

For some odd reason, the information section will work inside the table of the main page, but in some cases, it will open up a whole new page. As for the entertainment section, all of the links open up new windows. See, thats good because its consistent.

On that note, there's really nothing too special about this layout. Its lacking flash, and its mostly consistent. Still, I believe this site could use some work.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Viluy

Written content, gotta love it. Ok so to start off on my review I am goin to state this once again. (seems I have to do this alot when I do written content) But....SPELL CHECK PEOPLE! I'm finding at least several on each page. Really it doesn't take that much to run a spell check. I understand that there are some words that the word programs don't catch, but we're talkin easy words here. For instance..."transfered" not transfored. Or "Account" not acount. These are easy to catch in word programs and not hard to sway away from.

Now aside from the spelling errors, that you are bond to run across on each page there are other things to look at.

The stats for Sailor Venus/Minako are clearly not her own work. Granted I think it's great to give credit and I totally understand needing the help to put stats together, but one really should try to do it on their own. Now I do give props for the credit that was given! That's a plus in my book, most people don't do that, especially with stats.

I rathered enjoyed the fuku section, not only do you get pictures, but a detailed numbered description! Again though...SPELL CHECK!

Ah the "Dream" section of the information page. This section breaks down Minako's dream, you know who she wants to be when she grows up? It's short, sweet and to the point, but once again....SPELL CHECK!

On down the line is a "Who's the Leader" article, short sweet and to the point. Most everyone who knows about Sailor Moon, knows that Sailor Venus is really the leader of the group. However what does the comment about "only special people get guardian cats" supposed to mean? That makes no logical sense in my book as to why Sailor Venus is really the leader of the senshi and not Usagi. Because think about it, Usagi has a cat, yet she's not the true leader of the senshi. At least not in that perspective. *sighs* SPELL CHECK!

As I moved on I came to the section "Senshi Mysterious". This was a rather interesting section, though I am curious if she got the info herself or again gathered it from someone or somewhere else. Plus the ending part is extreamly difficult to figure out...but this goes back to the spelling errors. (don't make me say it again please! Oh well to bad...SPELL CHECK!)

Ok so there's a constant thread in this whole thing..SPELL CHECK! Like I said, I can totally understand hard words. However, even then one should look it up. Plus, in this case there are a lot of misspelled words that really shouldn't be misspelled. Most everything else within this site pretty much explains itself in the title. However, I have to ask about this "Twin Senshi" section. That section makes no sense, granted Usagi and Minako are alike, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them twins. Or even so far as to compare them as such. Things like these are mostly a personal opinon and I don't mind that. However, it's best to put some kind of disclaimer on it, for instance, "This article is only personal opinon and thought and is in no way related to the main history behind the character or characters, themselves."

All in all, I can't complain about the information, everything looks good. However, I'm not one for using other information that other people have worked on themselves. Though I do give a HUGE amount of props for the credit mentioned! Good job in that department. And finally I really can not stress this enough...SPELL CHECK!

Errors on pages make it hard to read what you have out there, they are also annoying and can really turn a reader off. So seriously take more pride in your work, spell check it ALWAYS. Because remember, if you don't take pride in your work, than why should anyone else do so?

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Ptilol

Ok, so I've got media content today. This should be fun. Let's start in the "entertainment" section, seems like the place where the goodies are hiding. *clicks*

There's three image gallery sections, "anime", "colored manga", and "friends". Looking at the "anime" section, most of the thumbnails work, however there are literally a dozen broken links. Also the link to the second page of images is broken. Don't worry though, there are quite a few thumbnails that do work. The image quality is decent as well.

*sigh* The "colored manga" section is broken...

"friends" works as do all the images inside. The images are of decent quality as well, but nothing really "new".

Moving on to the "animated GIFs". While the links work, the images are tiny and very hard to see. On top of it, they are poor quality.

I'm going to skip the "midis" section, because really, who uses them anymore.

Hmm, that seems to be about it for the media content. I was hoping for more. Anyway, webmistress please fix the broken links and the animations. It takes away from your site's likeablilty.
