SaturnDO NOT DO NOT DO NOT PUT MUSIC ON YOUR SITES!!!!!Now that I have muted my speakers to review this site, I shall continue on telling you that even worse is that this is the DUB SM Opening that is yelling at me. I am so sick of people thinking that putting music on a site is a GOOD thing. It ISN'T. I was enjoying a nice song here and you had to come and ruin it with your horrible site with its bad music in midi form. I have now paused that song and resume it when this site is done. Wow, after all that, I see that the first update is stating that as of February 4, 2004 that the site is closed. Well then I can forgive the webmaster. However, why close a site? Why not just take it down all together? I will never understand the logic.... I am viewing the navigation on the left and I am a bit disturbed. You see this sites address is "www.sailormooncenter.com", that usually implies an SM site. However this one has stuff on Ranma and FuYu.... why?! I mean really, is it so hard to stay consistant? However, aside from that, I am glad to see SOME organization on this site. The background doesn't blind me. The only real issues I have is in the music following me from page to page. This site seems to focus mainly on downloads. That isn't a bad thing necessarily. I also like seeing the disclaimer stating that if you don't own the materials that it should be deleted within 24 hours. Unfortunately I know more then a few people that won't do that... ok, so pretty much NONE of the people that are downloading here are going to do that. Such is the sad ass state of society. Unfortunately, this site lost all credability in my eyes. There are links to places to get the episodes. That would be fine if those episodes couldn't be purchased in stores, but they can be. There isn't much more I can say about this site. |

UranusThe Sailor Moon (Anime) Multimedia Center is the kind of site that reaches to grand heights yet is hollow underneath. Purporting to host files of all formats for Sailor Moon and several other quality anime, but, although the site owner retired only two weeks ago, the files are largely absent. The site may be found useful, however, by those seeking to become more knowledgeable in the area of downloading and playing videos off the Internet. The layout of such a site is bound to be secondary to the content, but it's worth looking at anyway. My biggest peeve with this layout is that the left hand menu, while effective on the home page, changes often unnoticeably when viewing sub-pages, and so it's possible to miss lists of files. Also worthy of criticism are the scrolling text listing the series hosted and the text in the status bar. This last is particularly interfering, as on such a site you will often want to see the URL of a link, to see if it is an ftp link, or http, or irc, et cetera. Looking first over the downloadable content, if everything that is linked was once here, this would have been a cool site. Dual audio episodes, full manga torrents, and full seasons of anime were available. Also the movies, music, some Winamp skins as a kind of bonus, and in a very rare find, emulator ROMs of many of the Sailor Moon video games. As if to stand as the ruins of a great city, some small items like Sailor Moon solitare are still here. And they may still be available on IRC, but there I will not tread. The best use of the site as is would be as a starter's guide to downloading. There is a tutorial for using the site's IRC server, which is as unconfusing as such a thing can be. Which is to say, not very much so. I still maintain that until someone comes up with an IRC program that condenses all these freaky commands to a few button pushes, one that's actually built for downloading and not chatting, that it's not worth it to try to download. What is of more use is the guide to playing .ogm files, with a handy pack of files for that purpose. The pack includes my persona choice for playing videos, the unfortunately-named BS Player. That's no good without a file to play, so you may find useful the bit torrent tutorial, although this one recommends Azureus, which always gives me headaches. So the mood that pervades this site is a post-apocalyptic one. It feels like walking through a graveyard. But the One Good Thing is that most all of what was here is available elsewhere, and with a little hard searching, the treasure cache described on this site can be had by all. |

NeptuneThe site did take a few seconds to load, and I don't see anything on the site that would take a lot of time to load. But let's continue.Layout-Well.....each link takes you to a new page (same window) and the menu is on top. However, on the left it has "Menu" and nothing under it. Seeing how the webmaster has an annoucement claiming he is no longer part of the site there won't be anymore updates. That means that nothing will be changed-layout wise. Content-Uh oh...the site is offering links to BT that has LICENCED Sailor Moon. That needs to be taken down as it's illegal folks. Again Sailor Moon seasons 1-4 are licenced as well as the three movies, so serving them on either mIRC or BT shouldn't be allowed. Other things that were on this site (no longer, mind you) are Ramana and Fushigi Yuugi. I don't see anything else content wise. Background-It looks simple but it takes time to load. Dialup users if you are wanting to visit this site, you are warned that it will take some time! Overall Opinion-At one time this site offered episodes from Sailor Moon to Fushigi Yuugi but has since went dead as of Feb. 2004. While this may have helped fans out in the past, it was offering illegal content. Also, the site is hard to load so if it were to brought back to life, I'd like to have a different layout and have it so it's not time consuming to load. |
