Links & Affiliation Do all the links work? Are affiliations clearly stated? Are self-promotion banners, buttons, and links easily visible? |
EudialHmmm ok.. "Princesses of the Universe." Lets see what we got here today. The counter on the bottom of the page is broken..*sighs* Broken Links on your site:
Broken Images on your site:
Ok, dispite these few listed on the top, this person did well in that area. At least, better then the past reviews. The big problem is that there is ZERO self-promotion and ZERO Affilation. You SHOULD try to get affilates as it will make your site more popular. And in regards to the self-promotion section, i cant even find a single button. Good job w/ the low amount of broken links/images, however poor job in the self-promotion and affilates section. |

Substituting: Mimette Layout & Design Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing? |
PtilolFirst of all, in this day and age of CSS, iframes and other wonderful web possibilities, it's disheartening to find a site that still hasn't caught up with the times. The use of black periods to push the content to the right place on top of Princess Serenity's dress could more easily and effectively accomplished with a table or some basic div layer coding. The current strategy of using periods that "blend with the background" makes the site more amateurish than usual. The major problem with this site is the unabashed use of huge, unedited images or wallpapers for site backgrounds in the various section. Without any use of an image editor, the content flows over the image and ends up interfering with it, doing both the image and the content a disservice. At the very least, the images could be faded so that text content could be properly read, or the images could be moved around or otherwise edited to better suit web presentation. The link colour, a dark aquamarine, is nearly impossible to read against the alternating black and white background of the main site image. While the site does manage to maintain a somewhat similar theme in the subsections by keeping a black background with white text, the "Their Story" sub-sub-page again has the problem of placing text on an unedited huge photo, this time of ChibiUsa and Pegasus. Again, this results in the background distracting from the text, making it more difficult to read. This could easily be resolved, again, by editing the background image or replacing it with a solid colour. Of course, solid colours should not be blinding or garish. In the "The Royal Family" section, both the "Neo-Neo Princess Serenity" (... ChibiChibi?) section and the "Princess of the Moon Kitty" section have eye-splitting bright pink and purple as the background, which, while not clashing with the black text, doesn't do much to help us want to stay and read the content. The "The Anime" link, which is a text list of the episode names is virtually illegible, with pink text on a pale pink rose background. The background is quite attractive, and this section's layout could easily be fixed by sticking to a black or other darker coloured text. Similar problems abound in the "Royal Court" sub-sections. My last gripe, and perhaps this is nitpicky, but the tilden sign, '~', is way too overused in this site. Bookending links is one thing, but they are unnecessary around each line of your lyrics. It detracts from any sort of classiness you might want your site to have, and one suggestion would be to remove any unnecessary ones so the viewer doesn't over-dose on little squigglies. |

Credits & Site Information Are all sources visibly and accurately creditied? Is there plenty of information about the webmaster and the site? |
TelluNot a damned thing here in the credits department. They don't even have a links page. They link to S.O.S. on their webrings page, and they seem to have enlisted themselves in hundreds of useless Sailormoon webrings. Fun. Nothing else here, so I'm out. |

Written Content Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content? |
ViluyGateway of time - the first inaccuracy of the site is in the name of Pluto - her name in the English dub is Trista, not Susan, and her last name is most certainly not Setsuna. The story - it is formatted rather oddly, but whatever works. I can see that this is based on the dub only, given the names. Darian should be Darien. There are a lot of commas misplaced, making it sound rather odd when you read it out loud. Most notably between 'Then' and 'Queen'. A lot of the dialogue in the story is paraphrased, as I don't recall (outside of watching it again) that they actually said this, but I'll go along with most of it. It's the general story anyway, albeit in a more melodramatic fashion. The profiles - you have to follow through several links to get to the profile information, some of which contains the Japanese info as well as the voice actors. Some of them also have the attacks listed, although I am not sure about Supersonic Waves being an attack...*looks puzzled* Darien did NOT ask her to be his Queen, it's more like the other way around, as Serenity has all the 'power' in THIS relationship. He is her consort, not the other way around. Rini isn't usually known as Neo-Princess Serenity (at least not to THIS reviewer) and I know that the 'Black Lady' facts are not facts at all. She wasn't possessed, per se, she became Black Lady because of the Wiseman's manipulations and her own guilty conscience. I can tell you that the so-called Neo-Neo Princess Serenity is nothing of the sort, and everything listed under her profile is wrong. Chibi Chibi is Galaxia's star seed, not Rini's daughter, not Serenity's essence, or anything else. (Where do people get this stuff?) I would highly doubt the person has read the manga, because it says no such things at all. The anime certainly doesn't. I was immensely amused to hear Luna being described as the Princess of the Moon's kitty. I think if she were a real character, she'd be offended at that. She is her advisor and some-time confidant, not just any ordinary cat. For the Princesses' identities, I believe that some of the attacks are not accurate, but I can't really say as they may be manga versions of their attacks. I haven't read all of the manga yet, but I have my doubts, let's just say...Their 'magic' isn't really magic at all. The items are merely items used to help them, as well as their henshin pens/sticks. Not necessarily 'their' magic at all. Perhaps if they were renamed as magic items instead? Just a side note, the background and text colours for Venus are too similar so it made it almost impossible to read without highlighting the text first. Please change this. I've noticed that some of the Japanese identities may be a bit mixed up. Some are in the English style, but Pluto's is in the Japanese style. Make your mind up which you're going to use and stick with it. It makes it easier on your visitors. Again, the choice of colour scheme for Pluto isn't the best, as well as her English dub name being inaccurate here. It's very jarring and hard to read. Hotaru's name was never changed and was the only one to not change from Japanese to English, so I don't know where you get Holly from. She also never attended Mugen Gakuen high school. She went to the same school as Rini, which is where they met. Under the Princess of Neptune's profile, 'professional' is misspelled. The lyrics - they are pretty accurate, and set out as you would pretty much expect song lyrics to be presented. Review summary - I'm pretty disappointed in so many ways with this site. It has a lot of potential if things were expanded upon, as well as the inaccuracies corrected. I don't know where her information comes from, so I can't say much about that, but it would help if she watched the show again, or read the manga herself to verify the details. The profiles and information are presented in a rather poor fashion, being little more than a few words on a page. If it's going to be presented like that, then just have it all on one page for each character, rather than several pages which mean you have to constantly click and follow links to get what you want. The setup is an interesting idea, I'd just like to see her follow through better with that idea. |

Visual Content What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally? |
CyprineThe first (and atcually only) piece of Visual Content that this site claims to offer is the so-called "~Princess Cube~"... it seems to be some sort of slideshow java applet. Unfortuantely, either my java is broken (which is highly likely) or the applet itself is broken because all I see is a glorious red x. Either way, if you want to show off some images, either present them in a normal gallery format, or use some other showcasing format that the vast majority of people can see. Most users have their java turned off because of spyware, adaware, and general annoyance invited by Java web applets -- at the very least, there should be some sort of warning before one clicks into the Princess Cube section that Java should be turned on. Hell, even a description of what it is would help, so I would know what I'm missing. This site also offers e-cards through bravenet, but the link is broken. |
