Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Mistress9

Ok, first of all, I am away from my usual computer, so my chance to putter around with different resolutions and browsers and stuff is basically non existent, if out of respect for the owner of this cute Apple, if nothing else.

That having been said- on to the review.

I'm in a 1024x768 resolution and Firefox tells me that it blocked two popup windows. Thank you, Firefox! This site has some lovely Tripod banners...
Under the banners, there's raw, broken code, which is obviously a distraction.

I suggest you move the counter to the bottom of the screen, we want content, not your ego.

Finally I get to the actual menu/layout combo. There's a box with a disgustingly blurry picture of Heavymetal Papillon and to the right are links. I know I'm just being picky now, but the right wall of the box has a gap in it. Above the box is a Header which looks like it's...It reminds me of a cross between a rocket-pop popsicle and bubble-gum. And melted candles. Yey imagery!

OH GOD!

I clicked "Her Story" and my, how thou art changed, Layout. Now I've got a big black box on a background that looks like an exploded Jawbreaker.

Then I click "Lifeless" and the font doesn't match the title image or the one used for "Her Story", but we do get the black-on-jawbreaker layout again, so at least it's uniform. I said that with a grain of salt, I'm sure you can tell.

"Notes 4 U" is all white text on a black background with an award image on top and a miss-matching header.

"Link Back" Has a row of hearts in the background that just make me go "What the fuck?" and "Thanks" has some...wavy...thing...

That's all I have to say that's of value or worth. Scroll to hear what the rest of us Witches have to say about our visit to Planet Butterfly.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Eudial

I think I already know who this site is dedicated to. Whenever I think Butterfly and Sailor Moon, i think of Sailor Heavy Metal Papillion. So, I clicked on the "her story" section and sure enough I was correct. Haha! No one can fool Eudial. Though, they weren't really trying, but yeah.

As I'm reading her story, I noticed an error. "HMP is most probably a citizen of Planet Butterfly who was ordered by Galaxia to assasinate the sailor senshi from that Planet." From what I recall from Naoko Takeuchi's Material Collection, Sailor Heavy Metal came from the planet, Cocoon. So, if its consistent with the others, she killed Sailor Cocoon. The one thing I don't like when someone makes an information is when they assume something about a person, place, or thing. The general rule is "if u dont know it, you don't write it." That is my main gripe with her information section.

Her lifeless section is kind of...odd. Basically, this person is saying that the reason Sailor Heavy Metal never appeared in the anime was because it went against the standard "1 main villain and 4 subordinates." This excludes the final season because Galaxia had far more then 4 subordinates. Its an interesting theory, but I think it has its flaws. Example being that the Doom Tree saga only had 2 main villians, and the appearance of the Amazon Trio kind of kills her theory too. I honestly don't know why she was left out of the anime. Prehaps, they left her out so that there was a reason to buy the manga? I do not know, nor could I find a reason when I reseached this.

As for the rest of it, there's not much to comment on. So, it wasn't bad information wise. Just never assume something when u write about it. People need evidence of a claim.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Cyprine

I'm so glad that the navigation here is vague and abstract. I do so love having to guess where a link will take me.

And after checking every link, I got nothin'. The only media I've found is the 4 manga scans decorating the info pages, and those are in need of a clean up.

When you have such a minor character, you almost have to have a gallery or media section to draw people in. Furthermore, once people have read the 2 pages of text on this site, what's going to keep them around? Nothing.

This site is a whole lot of nothing.
