Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

What a cute layout! I like the colors that are being used here. This layout is pretty simple and looks good on the surface, but it has some basic problems. The first thing I notice is that the links are dark red, almost the same color as the background they're on. They're very difficult to read unless you mouse over them... you might want to change that! Now, let's talk about the iframe. This layout really should use div layers or tables; the iframe just doesn't work here. Honestly, the iframe just rubs me the wrong way for some reason. On top of that, it scrolls to the side at the bottom, which is kind of annoying, and it detracts from the whole site.

As far as navigation goes, I like the top navigation; it's laid out just right. But I don't like the fact that when I click on "info," the navigation in each section consists of just a bar at the top with text links. It doesn't catch my eye at all. I think it would be best to make this similar to the other sections, with normal text links.

I know I said a lot about this layout, but I really don't think it's bad. It has a few problems, but it's not like it's terrible. I think with a little elbow grease, this layout can be a great one!

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Alright, I am left to do a review of written content once again. You all know that these are my least favorite, so I am just going to dive right in.

Alright, I know I am not on layout in this review but this is ridiculous here. I clicked on "Info" and EVERY SECTION HAS A HOVER ON IT IN THE CSS! Not only is this annoying but it is blinding as the hover is also the same color as the background and the text.... this does NOT make me want to read anything but makes me want to close my browser and email a nasty letter to the owner about this.

I can say this though about the Info section. This isn't like anything that I normally see on sites. However it is in essay format for the most part and they are lengthy. If you have several hours to invest in a site, this might be fun for you, but personally I don't have hours. I am going to assume that it is good content for as much as is there, but for the sake of this review I will read a couple of essays....

Uhm.... first paragraph in the first esssay "She is the very main character without any doubt, and a heroine that is barely recognizable as such for us at the beginning.".... this sentence doesn't only sound like the works of somebody with "english as a second language", I don't even understand it. Now I am probably the LAST person to talk grammar on this site (I'll leave that for Tellu), but this doesn't even make sense to me o_0;

Unfortunately some of these essays read like opinions and that really turns me off.... opinions are good but only when they serve a purpose and so far I haven't found a purpose for these.... Sorry, you aren't winning any points with me currently.

And neither did much else on this site. It has a good start but I am not giving it a solid stamp currently. It needs work and I am sure with a bit more work it could be a great site, but as it stands it falls just short.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

I'm doing multimedia here, so I'll head straight for... surprise!... the multimedia section. The selection of manga images is nice; it's interesting to see the manga scans in German. I also like that the webmaster has given credit where credit is due - how relieving it is to see something like that! Moving to the anime section, I have to say that these screencaps are terrible quality. They are so fuzzy; I don't really see how they can possibly be useful to anyone. My advice is to either scrap this section, make better screencaps, or ask for persmission to use someone else's screen caps.

The music section is ok, but I'd like to see more lyrics here. Just four songs! Another good addition might be MIDIs, which don't take up much space at all on your site, and are still pretty popular. The graphics section is also ok, but I'd like to see more. I like some of these avatars, so adding more would definitely be beneficial to the site. As a small aside, there is one broken image on this page. The dolls section was a big disappointment for me - I was expecting some handmade dolls, but these were made using another website, and there were only four dolls in all.

This site is clearly still growing multimedia-wise, and I think that with a little more oomph, it can turn into something great. I'd like to see more quantity in most sections, but I'd also like to see more quality in the anime screencaps section.
