Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Alright, I briefly viewed this page the other day and it had a completely different layout o_O;

In our help desk articles, I have said that simplicity can be good for a layout. In this case I think that the person has simplicity down as there is so much white for a background that I don't know what to do with it. They say that they haven't updated in almost a year and that they won't be, so I guess I should forgive it.... but nah! Come on there is "white space" and then there are gaping white backgrounds! Thankfully the links are visible since they have a GREY background for the box they are on otherwise they would disappear since they are white as well.

Thankfully it appears that this person has stuck with the current trend and has transitioned to php so that when you click a link your grey box will extend down the center of the page. As much as I like the banner styled image up top, I am not keen on the way they positioned the character's eyes. This could be a personal opinion but I feel that they could have centered them a bit better and still have kept the angle effect. I am baffled by the skull and crossbones on the right side of this image... I mean completely baffled.

There isn't really all that much to say about this layout. It is simple, but does it verge on too simple... I will leave that up to you viewers. Personally, I find all the white blinding and I am cranking down my backlight on my lcd, but in its own little way, it works.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Cyprine

A Hawkseye shrine?!? *squeeeeal* I love shrines to underdog, generally unloved characters.

Alright, I'm not sure that this site was created by someone who speaks English. Grammatical and spelling errors abound -- far too many to list here, but here's an example that would make most cringe: "Hawk Eye was created to destroy Sailor Jupiter from a hawk by the Amazoness Quartet."

Moreover, the written portion of this site is vague and non-specific. For example, the webmaster writes: "He dies when he and his partners use their wish to save Usagi. Elios rewards the Trio by turnng them into real humans and sending them to a forest in Elysion." What wish? Who's Elios? Where's Elysion? What's going on? Now, obviously, I know the answer to these questions but anyone who didn't already know the information being presented would be completely lost.

The webmaster insists that Hawkseye is the leader of the Amazon Trio -- I can't recall any hard evidence for this assertion, but the webmaster sort of vaguely attempts a defense of this theory in their theory section. First of all, if the leader of each group of villains was always the last villain to appear, than it would be Sailor Tin Nyanko who would be considered the leader of the AnimaMates, which we know is not the case. Cyprine and Ptilol would be considered the leaders of the Witches 5. Again not the case. The webmaster also says that Hawkseye is bossy and cites this as evidence for his position as leader of the Trio -- sorry, but most of the villains in BSSM are bossy. That doesn't mean anything about their actual position within the hierarchy.

For someone who built a shrine for one of the Amazon Trio, this webmaster seems remarkably uncomfortable with cross-dressing. Time and again, the webmaster says stuff like "...in the manga he's a crossdresser...ummhmm." Also, statements like "He's the 'softest' of the Trio.". What the hell is that supposed to mean?

The episodes section is a rather off-hand summary of some of the episodes in which Hawkseye appeared. Again, vague and unhelpful to anyone who hasn't already seen the episodes.

The webmaster says, "The hawk was most important to the Egyptian society but is quite common among all people." in their mythology section. Sorry, but I don't think that's the case. The Egyptians worshipped many animals, all pretty much universally.

The fashion police section is kinda dumb. It would be much better if the webmaster included pictures of the fashion in question. But the FAQ section is really inane -- first of all, I had not idea the FAQ was being written from Hawkseye's perspective. Secondly, the answers aren't funny at all.

Yeah, so this site is primarily written content, and very little of it is of any particular substance. I was so excited to be reviewing a Hawkseye shrine, but now I'm just disappointed.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

*pokes around a bit* Hmmm.. not a whole lot of media in this one. There is some text info ranting on about Hawks Eye of the Amazon Trio from the Super S series. There are short blurbs about his apperance in the anime and manga. For some reason, there's also a bit on his "fashion." WTF? I'm confused by this site, but I will try to continue on and see if there's anything else. There's a few images. Some are ok, others are not so ok, and some are broken. Bleh. There isn't much really. *shrug* I give up. There's not enough here to interest me and report on.
