Layout & Design Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing? |
ViluyThis site is one of the worst I've seen in a long time, and I can't believe the site is fairly recent as they go. This looks like something out of the dark ages of the internet. Not only is there an extremely badly sized ChibiUsa banner at the top, but the main part of the site scrolls horizontally (probably because of it) and the two side frames just make it look so incredibly amateurish. Not at all what I'd expect from a site begun in 2002. The little faces inside stars would actually make more sense if the last star-faces were actually Pluto, Saturn, Neptune and Uranus instead of the Sailor Stars. The site bills itself as a complete Francophone Sailor Moon site, but it's a complete mess to me. The link lists could easily be cleaned up, turned into one frame (rather than three), and the background totally doesn't go with the banner. Whoever said blue and pink went together....lied. Having the links in different colours doesn't really work well either. There are plenty of other sites offering classy (or at least less-horrible) layouts that this person could have used. Given this is one of the many freebie French sites, it wouldn't surprise me if all the person did was use the crappy site-builder/uploader that goes with these sites. Oh, a quick look at the source code tells me that this webmaster used FrontPage to make this layout. I have to say that even FP can do better than this. The fact that for the episodes, it sends you to a download site that you actually have to PAY for, says a lot as well. If you want to have a respected Sailor Moon fansite, you really need to pay attention to the details, get your own domain, get a quality layout and stop making money (if indeed the person does...) off the downloads, which I believe is illegal to have on there, money-making or not. |

Written Content Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content? |
CyprineIt's a good thing that I of the Witches was assigned the written aspect of this site. Random Cyprine trivia: I do in fact speak, read and write French. So, I'll dust off my French and we'll see how this goes. Clicking on information (on the left hand side of the screen) brings up a subscreen that lists "my presentation", manga, characters, summaries, laser discs, merchandising, and "the sailor biography museum". First of all, this site has some serious issues with text visibility. The white on the light blue background is fine, as is the yellow, but these section links are a pastiche pink, which are virtually illegible against the blue background. "My presentation" is a broken link, so I'm not entirely sure what was supposed to have gone there. The manga section is a couple of short sentences summarizing the various Sailor Moon manga volumes (en francais, of course). Unfortunately, although the webmaster alleges that the story of the manga is far superior to that of the anime, the webmaster does nothing to prove this assertion. The synopses are brief and superficial at best, and rather boring at worst. We never get a sense of the stories and why they are so nice, nor are these pages much of an informational resource for those who do already know the story. Within the next two sections, we see another major problem that can develop in sites designed by first-time webmasters. The characters site links to a page in which the webmaster "introduces" us to the characters by showing us pictures of them, but this page is useless because we can get no information; none of the names or pictures are linked to the "resumes" section which includes character profiles. Wow, in French, Minako's name is Mathilda. Bizarre. The summaries section contains some brief profiles of the Inner Senshi, followed by vague summaries of the seasons. The summaries are not consistent -- some are longer and more detailed than others. Also, for inexplicable reasons, the summaries switch to the Japanese names of the characters rather than the French names. I'm not exactly sure if the merchandising section is written or visual content, but regardless, the page only shows pictures of possible merchandise, and lists generic sites like Amazon for how to find them -- this is completely useless as far as actually wanting to track down these items. Alrighty, and last we have the "Sailor Biography Museum", whose title is inexplicably in English despite this being a French-language site. Clicking on it, I'm taken to a site that loads within the main frame and is basically translations of the doll box stats. Again, we don't see any great detail or in-depth descriptions of the characters, so again, while the information isn't incorrect (for the most part) it's not exactly useful for the seasoned Sailor Moon fan. Under Publications (again to the left), I found some fanfic contests (not terribly interesting) and a fanfic archive, which was cool primarily because I've never seen a decent collection of French SM fanfiction ... not that I've been looking. Well that's very arrogant -- the Sailor Moon Mag claims to be the only online Sailor Moon magazine, which I'm sure it's not. I'm not entirely sure why anyone would want to read these magazine articles, but I'm bored... but not as bored as I was reading the online comic strip. It's neither humorous nor good, but more like a waste of space and my energy. There isn't much else as far as written content on this site... so, in conclusion, this site has very little written content, and what it does have is rather pointless and unnecessary. It could seriously use a re-write and better research and effort spent into making the site a real resource. |

Visual Content What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally? |
EudialOk, this is a french sailor moon site. Im not good at french, but i shall do my best to navigate this. Ok, Sera Myu section. We got some pictures and a few mp3s. We got a broken picture on the way top of this page. There's a video section to this as well, where u can see interviews and parts of the play. However, I have not been able to download any of them. So, that gets an automatic bad rating. Ok, the Episode guide section has a few broken pictures on it. I cant access the guide b/c well...its french. lol The game section doesnt exist so i cant access it. Moonbox..errr...yea...pictures are down too. Picture gallery...this is just a bunch of random SM pics put together. Glad to say that 99 % of them work. Collection is well...a collection. A collection of Sailor Moon stuff. And this person has almost EVERY single SM item ever. lmao. At least, there's a lot. Information...the pictures in the 1st manga section do not work. Banners and such work just fine. Honestly, in regards to media, this site has its ups and downs. It would be alright if the videos worked for me. But, until then...its just blah. |

Overall How does the site flow, overall? What are the wholistic impressions the viewer gets from the site? |
