Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Cyprine

The best I can say about this layout is that I don't have a hard time finding the navbar. Unfortunately, even though I appreciate being able to find the navigation links, the layout doesn't flow -- frankly, it's visually boring. It looks like it was made in about three minutes in Paint Shop Pro 7 -- and yes, I do say PSP7, because I recognize the basic effects that are used.

The pink/red is rather unattractive and the only "visually interesting" (i.e., non-textual) part of the layout, the sprites in the bottom right-hand corner, is tucked out of the way for no apparent reason (why not have that part in the upper right rather than so out of the way?).

Also, the layout doesn't provide convenient links back to the main portion of the site. Especially for sites coded as frames, this is essential. Overall, I am extremely unimpressed.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Alright first off, whoever thought that these colors of pink look good needs to be shot... I love the color pink but not THESE horrific shades....

Now onto written...

Alright after clicking information I find 4 categories. "Sailorwho?" "The Stats" "Sooji-ki" and "Moonbeams". Lets hit the first one.

You know I am actually rather surprised by this first section. At first I thought it was going to be your usual profiles and crap, but instead I get an introduction to what Sailormoon is as a whole story as well as a general statement of what "anime" is. It is neither badly done, nor inaccurate. I am impressed.

Nevermind, the next section filled in that oh so missing hole that profiles have to take up.... moving on.

Oh goodie! Somebody else that thinks they are going to teach us Japanese. Cute and "useful" phrases and words at that... This should be good.

Wow... this my friends is another reason why you do NOT think that anime is going to teach you Japanese. It doesn't.... nowhere near it. Whereas some of this is correct, there is a LOT of it that isn't. Mispellings don't help but the lack of knowledge really doesn't help. But if you want to go on believing that "aka" is "red", you go right on ahead. Even better, have a look at the butchering of October-December....

Moving on thanks....

I am not reading through the crap that is "Moonbeams" as it is opinions and nothing that I can state is either right or wrong. This site gets a giant FAIL from me. Try harder next time and actually take at least ONE class in Japanese AND PASS IT before you are going to start trying to "teach it" to the innocent ones.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Tellu

Multimedia. Well, this is going to be short! Apparently, this page has a "wide selection of the traditional midi," but you'd never know it because when you click on the link, you get a lovely little 404. The same goes when you try to click on "Tiara Action!" which is apparently an "ever-growing picture gallery from the 'Sailor Moon' CCG."

So, all we're left with is the gallery. There is a text version and a thumbnail version. Shockingly, the text version is down. Apparently, the gallery is causing such problems for some people that the webmaster has actually decided to make a form so that visitors can tell her what problems they encounter. HELLO? Is this not a huge cue to take the damn thing down? I mean seriously, how hard is it to make a freaking image gallery work. It doesn't take a rocket scientist.

Inside the gallery, there are pictures of all of the main senshi. No villains, no other characters, and not even Tuxedo Kamen. Just senshi. Weirdly, there are exactly 18 images of each girl (isn't that a completely random number?) so this gallery has just 180 images. Quality ranges from bad to decent, but there's nothing here I've seen in MUCH better quality in at least a zillion other places.

Well, this site certainly isn't the cream of the crop as far as multimedia goes!
