Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Ptilol

Every section has its own layout on this site. I'll start with the main one and move along from there. Sound good? Alright, let's begin.

The main page took me a minute to figure out the image. After some staring, I realized it was several images of Sailor Mercury layered on top of oneanother with the brightness/contrast adjusted. The varying shades of blue are a little hard on my tired eyes. The navigation is a little hard to read due to the text color. If it were just a touch darker it would be alright.

The "Domain" layout is very simple but also easy to view. The main color is black and has some screen caps of Sailor Mercury using one of her attacks in the corner. Everything is easy to read and follow.

"Entertainment Center" features an image of Mercury in a wedding dress. It's a really cute image. The links to the pages in this section, however, are a little hard to view over the main image.

"Live-action Mercury" features a Sera Myu version of Mercury. This page is simply done and easy on the eyes. Again, my only issue is the text color. The links are too close to the color behind them and are a little hard to see.

The remaining three areas are all similar in layout style. All have a light colored background and easy to read page links. They all also use good quality images.

Overall, I like how it all comes together. Nice job Webmistress.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Cyprine

I must say that delving into the written portion of this site is a bit overwhelming, which is probably a good thing for the webmistress. *grins* At first glance it seems there's quite a bit of content here.

Of course, I head straight for the live-action, which contains Sera Myu and Pretty Guardian info. This is the part that I see most people gettting consistently wrong, but for the most part, the information here appears to be correct. There were only a few WTF? moments, like when we get treated to a tangent about Masuo Jun's crooked teeth (Why do we care about his teeth?)

There's tons of info in the BSSM section, and it's not just the usual dollbox stats. We're treated to essay upon essay of Ami, her appearance, her powers, mythology of Mercury... hell, even Ami's favorite food gets turned into a few paragraphs. Instead of just telling us information, there's a paragraph or two explaining how every detail relates to Ami's character. While a lot of these explanations are tinted with webmistress' opinion, it is never overwhelmingly biased (except for the whole "Ami is awesome" thing.)

My one real nitpick? Calling Sailor Mercury "SMercury" (the other senshi are similarly shortened). Are those five letters really that much to write?

All in all, I found this site to be a very enjoyable read. I found myself truly reading the articles by choice rather than because I was doing a review.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Media this week is going to be a blast, I can see it already! So I looked around the site and found the media listed under Entertainment Center! In going there I found lots of fun stuff to check out, let's just hope it all works! ;) Everything is neatly placed on the page, with descriptions of what each link leads to. Now since there's so many, I doubt I will get through them all, but I will sure try to! So with that, let's get started!

We got Image Galleries that are supposed to have pics of Ami is my guess (well the description says that, so why not think that right?) One problem, my computer hasn't let me open the link. Every time I try to, it says the link isn't there. Finally I had friend of mine try it and he got the same thing, so either it's the wonderful world of internet or the link just doesn't work.

The next section is Computer Goodies, this link works and has some avatars, layouts and wallpapers. Not everything in here is made the site owner, but the credit is placed under the respected goodie! Everything in here seems to be working just fine! Though I've seen most of these before, it's still fun to check out! Of course the main focus is Ami/Sailor Mercury!

Video Clips is the next one on the list, however when I tried to access them, all I got was a separate page stating that they had either been deleted, moved or changed. This seems to be the case for all of them. My only question is why have a Video Clip area, if all the links to your clips don't work? *shakes head* Not a good thing to have on your site!

The next section on the list is the Emulators/Roms Page. All I can say is I am pretty slow on the uptake! ;) Because I didn't know they had the R, S or Super S version of the Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon game! lol Anyways, here you can download and play the games yourself! The site has links to the software you will need as well as the games themselves. However it is asked that you delete them after 24 hours.

Now let's move on! Music files is the next stop and short of downloading everything on the page, it looks like all the links work! At least I can get to the part of the download where it asks me where to save it at! Of course these are just certain songs to listen to and play. The page notes that all songs are in .ogg format and you are informed that some media players should work with them. However if that doesn't happen, you can always follow their link to get the decoder for the file!

We'll do one more for just because! The next one on my list to check out is the Animated Gifs! The link to the GIFs works, I even went through all of them too! All the links work, however there is one that I question. Either it doesn't work or it's a rather big file and it takes way to long to load. *Hates waiting for stuff to load* Everything else works though, some of the GIFs are nicely done, others aren't. But it's at least a peek see around anyways.

For the most part, the main menu for the Entertainment Center is nicely laid out. The descriptions are listed under each link and you can pretty much find the content staying true to that. Though at least two links don't work (The Galleries and the Articles, which is at least listed as down), another works, but there is nothing there (The Fan Fiction Section), and at least two links work, but the content isn't even there (The Sound Clips and Video Clips Section). I would like to say that this Entertainment Section is a great little area, however I have to admit I expected so much more from it. What of the links that do work and stuff, is at least a look around. But don't get your hopes up for the Fan Fiction, Video Clips, Sounds Clips, or Galleries sections, cause at this time they just don't work.

My overall view on this sites media? It's slightly in between ok and bad for me. It's not great, but like I said it could stand to be a lot better over all. The site itself looks wonderful and so much hard work appears to have gone into it, but when one section like the media section has been short changed, then that just bothers me. One other thing I didn't like is all the windows that it opened for each section. I hate having twenty different windows opened on my computer screen!
