PlutoSilversenshi.net. Ok, its a dull green color, which doesnt blind me. This
is called "Sailor Moon Experience." This site says it focuses mainly on
the dub...oh boy. lol. Its all centered and updates are easy to find, as
well as navigation. |

UranusI remember back in third grade being so eager to learn cursive writing (I abhor the appellation "script") and on finally learning it, putting it into use in all my writings. It was eight years later when I realized doing so made my work unreadable and reverted to printing. This is relevant because this site has its title and menu in gloriously ornate letters that are just on the wrong side of legibility. That is to say, you can read them, but only by focusing dead on them. So let me run down the plusses and minuses of this site. Minus: the "Travel" section is misleading; I thought it was going to be tales of travel, but it's just links and stuff. That's a huge page of buttons there, so if you've ever got a week with nothing to do and want to immerse yourself in Sailor Moon, there you go. Minus: all the links within the site are tiny pound symbols. What's wrong with making the titles the links? Minus: the page is dub-centric, in some cases militantly so. But I quibble. I just wanted to get that out of the way before discussing the good stuff. There's a huge You know you watch. . . section that's still accepting submissions. There is a well-stocked download page including SNES roms, the old Sailor Moon version of Solitare (a must-have for any Moon-fan who wants to show off to heretics (i.e. non-fans) how obsessed they are), and some icons. There is also an awesome wallpaper (only one), featuring an Elegant Gothic Lolita Hotaru, which should stir those old rumors again. But if you're not clear on what EGL is, here's your Exhibit A. Sadly, the galleries page is down (updates are roughly monthly so maybe it'll come back), so I wind up hanging out at the information page. You know the blissful silence you get out in the wilderness by a clear lake with not another soul for miles and not even a breath of wind to rustle the leaves? Well, the visual equivalent of that is what I get when I see an information site without Senshi profiles. There are brief summaries of the seasons and an episode guide. Always need that. And, now, the main attraction, the one thing that can put you in Sailor Uranus's good books: Opinions! A good slate of the site authors thoughts and rankings, as the senshi, the villains, and the five seasons are assigned rank order according to how much the author likes them. It's almost like one of those countdown shows on VH1 or Bravo. Although instead of reverse numerical order they're in chronological. Makes it slightly odd. Some good rants as well, and here's where the dub-centricity comes in, as we are directed to be grateful and respectful toward the dub. I am neither. So, the site is mostly a good bit, with only a few minor points and a difference of opinion keeping me from really showering it with praise. If the gallery and the remaining chunk of the information section come back on-line, this site could just about reach the upper echelon. |
