The Sailor Moon Pocky Box : Reviews

Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Tellu

I can tell just by looking at the splash page that reviewing this site is not going to be a fun experience. Looking at the code it's been made by Yahoo! Pagebuilder. I'm not really sure how PageBuilder works because I do all of my own coding, but there are like a million tables in here to put the text where it should be. Why? It's totally pointless!

PageBuilder or not, this person could have at least used decent colors. Hideous! HIDEOUS!!! I just can't even begin to put into words how horrible the "layout" here is. Just plain text on a black background. Not even colors that go nicely together. The menu is on a white background, and the text is all different colors. Besides looking VERY unorganized, it's also impossible to read. It should be made illegal to use lime green or yellow text on a white background - punishable with up to $1000 in fines or 30 days jail time.

The image at the top of the page is... well, I don't really have words. Why would someone use such a stretched-out image of Usagi's Crisis Moon Compact? It's not even good quality. The text is in a horrible font and is too fuzzy to be read anyway. It (very bizarrely) cuts off at the right edge... yikes. Do people not look at these things before posting them on the web? Is this person blind?

The "layout" changes from page to page, but is mostly just text/images on a blank background. On several of the pages, the text annoyingly moves over the image, and images are stacked on top of each other. Clearly, no real effort was put into this. The banner couldn't even be made to look good, and the site owner obviously couldn't take the time to learn even rudimentary HTML. Why even bother making a website if you can't take just a few moments to make it look presentable, or at least pick colors that actually work together?

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Viluy

Oh gee, where do I start? The opening page is awful, with clashing colours and font sizes. I really don't see how the webmistress could really say this is a good site, with this kind of stuff going on. Links to pages in different colours? Again, in different sizes. Not so different from the splash page then. *sighs and clicks*

Oh dear. I think I'm going to be ill. *is serious* The colour scheme of the Bio pages (or rather...the lack thereof) is really something to behold. It bills itself as 'all the info you could ever want' but is sadly mistaken in every way. That's what we have our Tellu's The Oracle for. This is just a sad pathetic attempt at...something. The first one isn't so bad, blue text against a black background, although the page is coded so badly that the text merges together in Firefox. The horror comes in the bright flourescent yellow of Mercury's bio. Then...with the next button hidden somewhere in her bio, one click...

*screams* AHhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!

Bright blue background with red text for Mars and purple for Jupiter, followed by the same hideous yellow for Venus. I think someone should call the police for assault here. Those colours are seriously making my migraine worse here...*clicks away* One word of advice - if you're going to have pictures, don't put them 'as is' under your text, as it makes it unreadable. Seriously. Pink on black for Chibi-Usa isn't too bad, I suppose, but the pictures really do get in the way of the text. You just can't read it.

The PoV page is pretty useless. There are no credits and who really cares about SOS? They're rubbish. Always have been, always will be. Just a bunch of nutcases, rattling around in their little box. The only thing good I can say is that from what little I could see of your content, it appeared to be accurate. Barely, but yeah.

That's pretty much all there is as far as written content, as the other pages either aren't there at all, or don't have textual content. This is bad enough though, so it gets a butt-ugly vote from me. I don't ever want to see this site again, frankly, as it's just made me feel like I am going to be ill...and I hate that. There are much better sites to waste one's time on, like...a site for a garbage disposal company. Oh, and one last thing. Millennium is spelled using two ns, not one.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Ptilol

Alrighty boys and girls, it's media time, brought to you by me, the lovely Ptilol. *bows* Are you ready? Here we go.

First up, we go to Mercury's Computer for some linkage. *sigh* Most of them go to pages that no longer exhist. I'm dissapointed. Next please.
Onward to Michiru's Gallery for a bit of fanart. Sounds interesting. It's nice to see what other people interpret the characters to look like. *steps in and slams into the "down for now" sign* ow! That hurt. Bad webperson! What'd you do that for? Hmph.... *grumbles* Next...
*wanders cautiously to the next section* Chibi-Usa's Pictures an image gallery with the Inner Senshi. *clicks on the Chibi-Usa section 'cuz it's first on the list* WTF? Why do the images overlap eachother and sit in no particular order. Besides, where are the thumbnail? The images themselves aren't too bad, but really... Lemme check the other secions. *sigh* Same issues. The only good point is that all the images work, however, that doesn't outway the bad bits.
Rei's Library "Sorry the page you requested was not found" *head desk*
Hmmm... Mina Tells All Really? Umm.. stick to one set of names please. Anywho. Yay, more bios... I've seen them all at this point and these ones are as generic as the rest. Not to mention consistant with some inaccuarcies like some others as well. *eyeroll* I also get the feeling that the creator of this site has an unhealthy relationship with Chibi-Usa from the sheer amount of images surrounding her bio.
Dare I even bother... Usagi's Arcade. Well, looks harmless enough. There's a few jigsaw puzzles I had to try. And an emulator of the SNeS game, which I also had to try, but regret to say i couldn't figure out the buttons. At least everything works in this area. Thank goodness for small favors.
Last but not least (or is it?) Chibi-Chibi's Website Awards. Why me? These are awards that you can apply to win. I wouldn't want one. They are so graphically poor my brain is smoking. If you'd like some better looking awards I would be more than willing to help, free of charge.

Thank God that's over. I'm terribly sorry to subject everyone to this bit. I really didn't think it was going to be so bad. *bows* Gomen ne sai minna san.
