Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Oke first things first. The major beef with this layout is the images. The fact that on a broadband connection, the main site image took over a minute to load is BAD, *slaps webmistress' hands*, very bad. You might want to think about optimizing your images for faster loading. The affiliates images are just fine. In fact, until the header loaded, I thought that was all there was...

Secondly. This was obviously coded for IE only. Another X against the webmistress. Now, I'm not perfect, since I code exclusively for Firefox, but when most things I've seen with standard coding like this work in both....I don't see why the content is so skewed like this. Might want to fix that somehow. I am not sure what can be done given that it's hosted on evil Geocities, but I'm sure you can try. I've seen lovely layouts there, so I know it can be done. At least the layout is consistant, although the same skewed effect is on every single page.

Now, your navigation menu. You might want to consolidate quite a few of these pages, such as combining the adoptables, avatars and images into one part of the site, the quizzes, awards and stuff like that as another part of the site and so on. Having it all on separate pages like this makes your site look bigger than it actually is, also making you look kind of...well, desperate for content comes to mind. This is also ignoring the fact that you have very little actual factual content on the site to begin with.

Having the Sailor V manga scanlations in such a tiny font and not exactly in the right place on your nav menu kind of makes me wonder why bother having it there at all? The only good part about that part of the site is that you've actually made some effort at crediting your content. Where are the credits for the stuff you've got other than this? All I can see is that it makes you look like a thief without any credits on your site.

You might also want to consider taking the stupid petition off your site. Not only is it extremely lame, but it's spammed from hell by Italian spambots with nonsensical adverts. *sighs* Also, the page for the fanart and fanfiction both say fanart on them. Might wanna change that too.

All I can say is this site needs a drastic overhaul of monumental proportions. The layout isn't so bad, it's the content that sucks. Or should I say, lack of content. It just looks like the webmistress is someone who thinks it's cool to have a site, whether it's got anything worth looking at or not. Whether or not this is the case, I don't know - I just call it as I see it, and I'm calling it bad.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

It is a bit more than refreshing to see some decent fanart used for the layout of this page as the main image, but I really wish that the person was a bit better at it. By that I mean that I don't like how Mercury is covered by the affiliates lists as well as part of the main frame. I understand that this is a beautiful piece of fanart, but even that doesn't justify it taking up almost my entire screen. I don't understand the need to have a HUGE image as your main image in a layout....

Even worse about this site is that the main content area does NOT fit in the box and is overlapping the border on the left. This could be an issue with Firefox, but being a Mac user doesn't allow me much in the way of browsers unless I want to use Safari that doesn't view a lot of pages, IE for Mac that is still on version 5.2 and won't go further because Microsloth dropped it, or Opera that even though I have a legal version, it wants me to buy yet another version of its crappy browser that doesn't work all that well.... So Firefox it is, and for this site, it isn't apparently...

The first section I clicked on was the "petition" and it takes me to a guestbook. What is funny is that there were popups in the window and the popups actually LOOKED LIKE the front page in color and setup o_O; That was confusing, but now I get to see a lovely Bravenet guestbook. I have seen some pretty lame petitions in my life, but this one by far takes the cake. It is nothing more than a pathetic attempt at getting people to sign a guestbook for this person's site... Can you BE any more pathetic? Even better is that the last 23 (yes I counted them) entries are either in a foreign language or they are spam. I guess the "petition" isn't working.

Quizzes is a joke as it is nothing but a link to a quizilla page.... if I wanted more popups I could go back to the guest.... I mean petition.

I wish I could read the "About Me" section as it is obviously the most important to be at the top of the navigation list.... oh wait, there is something above it...

Sailor V Manga Translations. Ok, this should be good.

Ok, I take that back. Not only am I on a completely different Geocities page, I am also looking at a very different layout (that works!) but I am wondering at the choice of color as it is all sickeningly pink. Now I LOVE the color pink, but this looks like a few too many drinks at the bar and a long night of strawberries that ended up all of my screen....

As these are not in written format, I am not required to review them, but I am going to peek at the first one and see how it looks. Give up the divers mask JUST in case. Forget the "it works" comment, the alignment is screwed again after clicking the first link....

Uh yeah, these scanlations aren't what I would expect, and who the hell is "Grand Theft Fansub"? I'm outta here folks. I think I might now go indulge in those drinks and strawberries now so that maybe later I can make my comment come true.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Cyprine

Eternal Dreams offers a mish-mash of different content -- the navigation menu includes links to movie and music sections as well as fanart, awards, screen savers and wallpapers. In most cases, the sections are too tiny to be worth anything.

The adoptables secftions contains two ... all I can call them are avatars, although they obviously are not avatar-sized. Yet, they are square... They confuse me, mostly because I don't quite know what they are and, if they are adoptables, why would anyone want to adopt these bizarre, avatar-ish-type things.

My confusion only mounts when I click on avatars and see the exact same format of image only slightly smaller, and more avatar-sized.

Speaking of which, I'd be interested to see what Tiara Envy has to say about these avatars.

The site does offer awards, but, and this is just a pet peeve, but if you're going to offer awards, it would be good to make the sample picture big enough to see. The site also offers Kiss dolls, but again, the preview images should be embedded in the page rather than as a link, to make it easier to browse the selection (also, these dolls are uncredited).

The site also offers the SNES games on the SNES emulator. But while it does have links to "Fan Art" and "Images", neither of these sections actually contains anything in it (and the "Images" goes to a Yahoo! Photo content manager service... we all know how much I hate that).

So, the site says it offers movie clips, but beyond having a page that says "we have no content", it actually goes to a broken link. And, want screen savers or wallpapers? Don't go here.

So -- the multimedia count? Six self-confident avatars, two questioning ones, a couple of awards, and a whole shabazz of uncredited KiSS dolls. Nope, sorry, this site sucks as far as multimedia. Not only is it a cocktease, but even when it delivers the barest fraction of what it boasted, you're left feeling cold and unsatisfied. Best to go elsewhere if you're needing that multimedia lovin'.
