Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Eudial

You know, I recall at one time, people spelt it as "color" and not "colour." Is there a reason for this change? I've been curious about this for a while, so yes, if you know, please tell.

Right, so I'm in charge of layout! I'm not gonna bore you with any nonsense, and I'm going to just get started. Well, the banner picture on the top of the site seems good. This is a VERY simple layout. There isn't a background image or color. And there is a small navigation on the top.

Some of the naviagation doesn't work; namely, music and toys. Forgive me on this, but when I click on the first navigation, another one shows up in the center of the page and thats it. To me, this seems like a waste. It couldnt't hurt to add a few random Sailor Moon images here. I mean, the whole page is blank. Just a little rant there.

*sighs* There's really isn't anything to discuss for this site because there is nothing on this site, layout wise. Simple is good, but this seems too simple to me.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Cyprine

So, the first thing I do when I check out a site to review written content is try to peg down what the site's focus is. I checked out the about section for this site and can't seem to figure out what specifically this site is focussing on, so I'm going to assume that the site is trying to focus on BSSM and manga (since this seems to be the majority of what the information is about)

The library contains profiles for each of the characters. These are actually quite nicely written, in a format that is both interesting and contains several factual tidbits above and beyond the call of your average Senshi profile. My one gripe is that the site (as mentioned above) does not distinguish what form of BSSM it is referring to, and occasionally, I have to question whether the site is mixing anime and manga information.

The library also includes profiles for some of the AnimaMates (manga). Why only these villains?

Each Senshi profile also links to pages that list attacks and henshin -- everything looks accurate. There is also a link to name meanings -- this information looks generated from some sort of name meaning generator; it would be good to include the information as to what generator is being used, or if it's unique content, how the webmaster came up with this information. Also, these pages should be made available from some centralized section because I didn't even know this site would offer that information. If they're separate pages, we should be able to access them some other way rather than being surprised at the bottom of each profile.

Probably the most interesting part of the site is the rant section, only because it's new content that isn't your run-of-the-mill BSSM written material. Although not all of the rants are exceptionally well-thought-out or well-written, nor do they all have much to do with BSSM or the site, but at least it gives me some insight into the webmaster.

Overall, I enjoyed the written content on this site, and my only major criticism is that there should be more.

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Ptilol

Alrighty boys and girls, it's media time again. Lets see what's in store for us today.

First up we head to the "library" section. Contained here are some detailed sections on each senshi and the animamates. I'm not sure if the webmistress intended on possibly adding future villians or what, as there are certainly more than just the animamates.

The sub-sections themselves seem to be put together well. Each contains not only the standard facts seen on every other SM fansite, but also a more in depth look at the character's.. well.. character and what she's really like.

The "studio" section contains the galleries for the senshi. There aren't any thumbnails, just descriptions of each image as a text link which opens in-site when clicked. It would be much easier to see them if they opened in new windows. *sigh* But seeing as the last update on this site was in '03, I don't think that's happening any time soon.

The images themselves aren't spectacular. Most I've seen before in better quality. Others are artbook scans. Somehow, with IE maximized I still can't the the scroll all the way to the bottom to see the bottom of the image. Wierd....

The section heading "music" is unclickable.

The "rant" section just doesn't belong. Save that stuff for LJ or a blog or something. It has nothing to do with Sailor Moon.

"Toys" is also unclickable. *head desk* Why put headings in if you aren't going to use them?!?

Last, and least is "travel" all it has is a million links and some banners to use if you feel like linking this site. Umm... no thanks, I'll pass.

The "about" section is pretty useless as well. No credits.. ahem! Just some random shiznit such as thank yous to random people, what programs were used, ideal browser settings (yay for small favors there). Bleh.

Overall, this site needs work, lots of work. There are some good spots, and some pathetic spots. *shrug* what else can I say about something that hasn't been touched in over two years?
