Layout & Design

Is the layout intuitive and easy to navigate? Is it compatible across all browsers and resolution? Is it aesthetically pleasing?

Cyprine

This site lost major layout points from me because I spent three days trying to access this site. Finally, the night I was asked to update the Pockybox, the site finally started working. So this is a late-night, last minute post, and frankly, I'm paying more attention to Dave Chappelle than this review.

First of all, the starlight tiled background is very mid-nineties. It dates your site, it's not "cool". While there's nothing wrong with having starlight stuff, per se, there's also nothing wrong with wearing massive bell bottoms and butterfly collars as long as you're okay with looking like you just stepped out of a time maching.

The navigation links are too dark and too small -- you can barely read the tiny dark blue Times New Roman font against the starry background. Ctrl+A is my friend tonight. And you know what, I'm not even going to bother reading them -- the squinting is giving me a headache.

Tiny Times New Roman text interspersed with screen captures does not a layout make. Also, along with the illegible dark blue, the bright yellow of the image policy at the bottom of the site is visible, but it also clashes with the rest of the site.

The rest of the site sections switch layouts, again a big no-no if you're trying to build a cohesive site. Other than the fact that most of the sites use 800px backgrounds that tile badly on my 1024 resolution such that the text overlaps the background, the design skills displayed in this site are again very dated -- all tables and Times New Roman font, this is the kind of site best displayed in Netscape. Not 6; Netscape Navigator.

Written Content

Is there lots of written information? Are all profiles, back story, and other textual content accurate? Does the site offer fanfiction or other miscellaneous written content?

Mimette

You know, I really wish I had some idea as to where to go on this site. The navigation leaves a LOT to be desired and I am trying to figure out what is what. So bear with me as I wallow through this cesspool of a site.

Well I found SOMETHING under "Insights" but I am not really sure WHAT it is so I am moving on. Hooray for broken links!

Uh yeah, folks that is about all there is to this "site". It calls itself the "Cosmiclub" but I see nothing that would make me want to be a member. On a rather unrelated to my section note, the background looks like something I vomited up years ago in a very drunken state.... ahh the memories can be blissful... *goes off to her own world with crackwhore rabbits and alcoholic kittens*

Visual Content

What kind of visual content is offered? Is it efficiently organized and intuitively accessible? Are all visual media offered legally?

Tellu

There's no real multimedia or visual content here... no image gallery, no MIDIs, no files for download... nothing! So I'm basically going to have to just search around the site until I find some images here and there.

Images:

Every single image on this site exhibits the 3 Ts that all site owners should try to avoid... tiny, tasteless, and tacky! The very first page contains three of the worst Sailor Moon pictures I've ever seen. They are extremely bad quality, and they're very small. On top of that, the first picture is completely unrelated to the other two. Moving on to the rulebook, there's a fanart-type picture, which is actually a decent size. Unfortunately, the text on it is totally illegible. The next place that I find Sailor Moon-related images is on the "Cosmic Insights" page. I see a VERY tiny, altered picture of PallaPalla playing with a doll. I doubt the alterations to this pic were made by the owner of the site, but I certainly don't see any credit. Also on this page is one of the scariest MS Paint drawings I've ever seen in my life, of "COSMICal Cereal," which I'm sure is going to induce terrifying nightmares when I try to sleep tonight. Next we move to the "Trust No One" page. And I must say that the image of "Sailor Engvall" at the top certainly makes me "Trust No One" who has access to MS Paint. Moving on to the "Pointers" page, there is ACTUALLY an image of decent quality! But don't start rejoicing too soon... it's still teeny tiny. It's one of those images that no one could POSSIBLY find a good use for; like when you snap a picture with your camera, and your finger is in the way. Just based on the image, I think the title of this page should be changed from "pointers" to "pointless."

And that's in in the way of visual content. Eight awful pictures. I almost feel sorry for these folks! o.O
