UranusHaving a fan site dedicated to an actress rather than a character says something about the site. It says that the site is grounded in the real world. It says that the author has a true respect for the hard work and dedication that goes into making any television program, let alone one of the quality of PGSM. And most importantly, it says that there will be lots of pictures of hot young Japanese babes! In this spirit, we view Azama Myuu's Palace. There are a number of layout annoyances on this site. A bit of status bar tomfoolery with the site's title constantly collapsing on itself is very distracting to the eye. You want people to look at your site, not be pulled away every 10 seconds. Then there is the problem of similarly colored text and background. The text looks more like shadows than an actual font (the front page looks better in Opera, where it's light on dark, but the sub-pages are white on white.). The information section has the usual facts you'd expect to find about Myuu and Sailor Jupiter. There's also a sort of mission statement, explaining why a shrine to Myuu was built. The major problem I had with this site was in the gallery, where the pictures are presented in slideshow format with some complex Java. Opera couldn't do it and neither could my Java-disabled IE. I don't understand the reasoning behind putting them up this way, unless it's to make them harder to steal or to direct link. Please let this not be a trend because while it's probably quite effective, it prevents honest folks who have an aversion to unneccesary code from seeing the pics. Moving on, there's a download page where you can get the Sailor Jupiter singles. Never been very impressed with those. The songs, not download pages. Then there's a games page with memory and tic-tac-toe. The memory game is always fun, and it's a way for me to see some Myuu pics. There's also a general PGSM one that's good fun. The tic-tac-toe games are the same type I saw on another page, with the opponent always going first and only losing when you do something unorthodox. You're always Myuu, and you can play against any of the other senshi actresses or against Kikawada Masaya (Motoki). I had endless fun (and by "endless" I mean "two minutes of") intentionally losing to Komatsu Ayaka, who I like better than Myuu. The last thing other than the site stuff is a fan page, where you can share loving words about Jupiter or Myuu. Inexplicably, wallpapers are here. Perhaps they're fan-submitted to fit the theme. Probably the case, since someone with a webpage dedicated to Azama wouldn't spell her given name "Miyuu," as is the case on some of these. Or perhaps she and Sawai got married. In any case, it's a niche site with a lot of love, and I really wish there were talent to match (no pun intended. . . talent, Sailor Jupiter, you know--on second thought, I do intend the pun. I want to see that too.). The One Good Thing about this site is that the images are folded nicely into the layout. Too bad they're the easiest images to access. |
