NeptuneLayout-Well I'm not too sure what kind of layout I'm seeing as things are not aligned and it's hard to read some of the content. I'm not sure it's my computer or what, but the GeoCities ad is on the right and will NOT close so the whole site is smooshed to the left. The author may want to look into that. Oh ok, I fixed that. Seems that the visitor needs to click on the >> type arrows for the ad to disappear. Content-It's scattered to say the least. The cast info only has (the lovely) Sawai and that's all. I notice that the menu disappears and I have to click the back button. *Clicks it* The full episode animations go up to act 8 but it's an original idea. Now I'm in the Freebies section. I'm not sure why the freebies are on the right side-where the menu should be, and not in the middle of the site. However, let's see what is offered. Wallpapers are not aligned as well. Text is seen through one of the walls. The last wall is off of the background as well. I'm seeing a pattern with the avatars as I did with the wallpapers. They're unaligned. That's pretty much that is here. Background/text-The background that is used are swirlies and little boxes. It's nonconsistant as it repeats on both sides and you can tell where it gets cut off. Some of the text is hard to read because of the swirlies. I suggest redoing it as it doesn't go with the main image used. Improvement-The layout needs to be improved so that everything is consitant and I don't have to click the back button to get to the other content. The ad is really annoying as well as I had to click the >> button each time I clicked on any link. Overall Opinion-The site does have potential IF the author takes the time to redo some of the things listed. Mostly, tho, I hope the author redoes the layout as it needs a "face lift". I would like to see more episode animations as it was really nice to see some originality on a site. Please use this review for your advantage. |

SaturnHoly shit! I have come to brush hell! I don't know what this author was smoking, but this site is by far, NOT pleasant to look at. As much as the colors aren't blinding, I wondery why they felt the need to go brush crazy in photoshop.... It doesn't make it look good, but rather completely overdone. the best part is when you crank your resolution to 1600x1200 there is just a white background underneath all these brushes. It makes it look poorly done, which it is. Anybody with an ounce of sense in their head would know not to do something like. It looks tacky and like they couldn't come up with anything else. Also on top of all of that, it seems to be cut into four DIFFERENT images for the layout, which is fine, IF the four images that are brushed to hell and back lined up. By that I mean that if you are going to go nuts with brushes like this person did, then at least make sure they line up with each other. NONE of these four squares line up the patterns on them. That makes it just sloppy. The main image of Sawaii Miyuu is pretty, but why the horrid pink text? And why the badly done image at the bottom of the page, and why suddenly after all the swirls are their flower brushes? This page is making me dizzy, which will in turn make me sick. I am going to fly through this one. The Cast Galleries are an embarrassment. There is only one character that has a gallery. Once again Sawaii-san. However, this is hardly a gallery as there are a bunch of thumbnails that lead to nothing but broken links. This could be because this person linked them to an outside service as they are a fool to be on Geocities in the first place. However, one of those services doesn't even allow outside linking. The worst part about this gallery is that I don't see any credit given to these images and I know where more then a couple of them came from. I also have to feel for any dialup users that are viewing this page. As the layout is done with four VERY large images that would take forever to load on a dialup connection. As none of the images in the gallery are targeted properly, they open in the same window, so for every image you would have to hit the back button and wait for it to reload on dialup. BAD idea there. Targeting links is very easy, please learn how. The fact that there is no back link for the rest of the page is more then annoying, as is the navigation for this site. I just had to hit my back button FOUR times to get back to some semblence of navigation. This is really annoying! The full episode animations is interesting.... ok, it isn't. It is lame. As much as it is original, you could have hosted a lot better stuff on the slim amount of space that Geocities offers. However what is even more on the annoying side is that they start at the making of the series, continue on to episode 8, and then stop only to start again at ep 40, stop again at ep 41 and then do ep 43. Can I get a round of "WTF?!" Lemme lay on my browsers back button again. Freebies would be great if the huge ass Geocities banner wasn't covering the navigation for it! Now that that is closed, lets see what is here. Wallpaper, where rainbow colors and overly done brushes run rampant. These aren't winning any contest any time soon. Not just that, but at the bottom, the brushed layout stops and the wallpapers are overflowing onto the white background. I am wondering WHY this person thought that this looks good. It doesn't. The fact that this person is offerlng layouts is outright funny considering they can't even do their own. These layouts are badly done and overbrushed just like this one. The icons run off the layout as well. I am getting out of the Freebies section as this is just pathetic and bad. Request Forms is an interesting thing to click. This is a form I am guessing you are supposed to copy and paste into an email. However, that does not make this a form. There are form generators out there that create better then this. This just shows that on top of all of this, this author is L-A-Z-Y. They couldn't even be bothered to learn how to make a simple form or even hunt down a generator. Fanlistings opens in its own page. The background is completely different and frankly I would have rather seen this tiled 50 times on top of itself then the brushed mess that the rest of the site is. The "About Me" page makes me want to throw up. I swear, if you use alternating between caps and non caps in ONE word I am going to hunt you down and throw live gerbils at you. I am not bothering with the other two links as they involve some TCG which I couldn't give a damn about. This site somehow has affiliates, yet I can't figure out how. I am going to try to find that guestbook link I saw a while back and get the hell outta here before I have to wipe chunks off my monitor. I am not surprised that the last thing I checked on this sit e was the coding, and guess what? It is done with Yahoo Pagebuilder... gotta love generated code. I will never understand why people want to build a site, but NOT learn html. Advice. Get a real layout and lay off the brushes. It looks like a big mess. |

UranusWelcome to Brushland, population: brushes. This is my first reaction on seeing moon-anj3wl, the home page of which is drowning in curvy, scratched-up brushstrokes that draw all your attention away from the meat of the page, like the tagboard on the right. Now, it so happens that 100% of all sites we've done that have had a tagboard have been terrible, but that shouldn't mean we dismiss this one outright. At least this one doesn't refresh every few seconds. This may be owing to the fact that I first loaded the site at 9:00 PM Sunday, and by 5:42 PM Monday, not a single message had been added. So it may indeed be that the only ones populating this site are the brushes. First on the list is cast galleries, though only the one for Miyuu Sawai is up. The site loses marks for spelling Miyuu differently on the menu as on the page. Then loses even more when none of the pictures are actually there, only the thumbnails. In some cases, you get a 404 error, in others a default picture from an image host, and in one particularly humorous case, the "http://" part was misspelled, so it sent me off to some search site. On the bright side, I suppose this means the author coded all the links by hand instead of using a program. What is here, and what I'd much prefer to be missing, are full episode animations. This is one of the most convoluted way of digitizing PGSM I've ever heard of, as what has been done is to take the episodes, shrink them down to 78 pixels by 53 pixels, and then encode them as animated gifs. The result is exactly like looking at a Charlie Chaplin movie through the wrong end of a telescope. Only with Japanese people. And in color. If there's a use for such things, please let me know because I can't think of one. The next part is freebies, which is this site's name for web graphics such as wallpapers and avatars. The wallpapers have no links I can see, so again all you get is thumbnails. The avatars are there, but only for Komatsu Ayaka and some animated ones. The animated ones ate out of focus and the Komatsu ones all use the same font. Following this is a request form, where you can ask for graphics or enlargements of the full episode animations. Can I request that the author fix all the broken links? I skip over fanlistings, because I'm not interested. Instead I go to the section about the author. This is written in sticky caps (every other letter is capitalized), which I think says all we need to know about the author. A collection of TCGs is last, and through some judicious searching I find that these are like collectible online graphics. Time-wasters, in other words. Checking out the site's small affiliate area, I note a link to the other page we've done with a tagboard, which you should know all about. (On the off chance you don't, it means you're not on our forum. Why not?) This page is three months from its last update, which says that it's all but dead, and that's why all the links are breaking. It's no big loss. The One Good Thing I can see on this page is a cute little Hello Kitty clock underneath the main graphic. No link to where to get it though. How sad. |
