SaturnAlright, for the first review.... lets see what we have here.... "With info on the scouts and the famous conversations between to morons! I also sell VHSs, VCDs, and CDs!" Last I checked... the point of a splash page was to inform people of any disclaimers or to tell you what you need to properly view the page.... this statement doesn't do either. Not to mention, I am willing to bet that if you have to advertise that you sell things on your first page (one that isn't readable at that), that those items are NOT legal. Wow, all this just on the front page... I am scared.... Upon entering (if you can call it that), I find another badly tiled background image. Texty cursors, unreadable text and some links. Not to mention the very bottom of the page that has a counter that shows that over 450 unfortunate souls have viewed this site. I feel for their now blind eyes. (Lemme school a few people here on some web design tips. Just because an image is pretty does NOT mean that it translates into a good website background! And even if it DOES tile well, fade it so that we can actually READ your text. Well that is IF you can read, I wouldn't want to offend any illiterate people out there.) I had to highlight the text on the main page to view anything, but after doing so, I am even more appalled.... My god, this person has tried to cram EVERYTHING into one place. On the left it seems like they tried to give some type of "updates" (though if they really want to "update" anything, they should just scrap this site all together). Directly to the right of these "updates" are links. Not links to any information or such, but their favorite links, not to mention their guestbook, which I DO intend to sign (like I would skip an opportunity like this!), and their "Conversation between to morons". (A link should NOT have a spelling mistake people. Remember that spellcheck feature is your friend, but a grammar check works wonders as well.) Along with all this, he has crammed in a Biography of himself... He gives all of his chat names and such, but he fails to give his home address so that I can go egg his house for this abomination. On top of all of this (literally) there are some links for what appears to be some actual content! Huzzah! The holy grail of the site right? AHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!! Run, run screaming NOW! Not only is this the "For Sale" page, but they have committed one of the most atroscious crimes of all time! They have used a wallpaper for their website background! What is so wrong about that you say? Well sometimes a wallpaper can be nice. It really can, and it can work as a backgrund if you do something like a popup layout, but not this.... IT IS TILED!!!! The fact that it brandishes the "animewallpapers.com" label in the lower right hand corner doesn't do much for it either. Neither does the fact that this particular background has text on it! What is so wrong with that? Well the pages text is over top of the wallpaper text! No joke people! I would think that ANY web author with even a sliver of a brain would realize that this is probably the biggest crime ever and that they should fry in the electric chair for EVER doing this. I am highlighting this information as we speak to read what is being sold on this site.... As I thought.... all of it is illegal. Once I finish this review, I will be informing the IFCC of this obvious copyright infringement, along with letting Geocities know, though the IFCC seems to care a lot more then Geocities. The lime green text doesn't do well for your illegal sales Mr. Person. Keep that in mind when they are fining your butt in a much less vibrant green then your neon text. The lack of a back link or any kind of return link from that page had me hitting the back button on my browser to see the rest of this god awful site. Oh dear god.... They even stuck in cheesy effects so that the pages will fade into one another when clicked.... *starts beating her head with her keyboard* The fact that this section is labeled Sailor SCOUT Information makes me know ahead of time that it is going to be horrible, but I am a reviewer so I must go on.... no matter how much I have to drag myself through this drying cement death trap of a website... DAMMIT! I knew it! More wallpapers taken from Animewallpapers.com for backgrounds. *feels the blood trickle down her face from her eyeballs* This statement has me in fits of anger and disgust "The first scout manga that Naoko Takeuchi was Code Name Sailor V! Only released in Japan and not commercially sold in the United States. She's supposdly the princess but turns out to be a dummy princess to protect the real one(Usagi)." *starts trying to track this moron down to kill him* Alright folks, you might be asking what is wrong with this statement.... well, first off... Sailor V was never a "scout" but a soldier or senshi. Never in Code Name wa Sailor V was she ever a princess, or was Usagi in the story. Usagi was never in Code Name wa Sailor V, but WAS in Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon. Get the facts straight and get your words straight! It might be a bit touchy to go this far, but don't combine your information. It makes you look dumber then the rest of this site already has.... The highlighting continues for the rest of these profiles as he has used the Senshi wallpaper series done by Cynical126 for this series of "profiles" if you can call them that. I won't rant anymore about these awful attempts at profiles. Where I applaud your effort at trying to have something original instead of the generic profile that can be found on every other site that copied it from each other, I still want to inform you mother that you should have been drowned at birth for your lack of web design skills. "Favorite links including me"? What the hell does that mean? Oh wait, I know what it means. Its means that when I click this link my eyes will suddenly develop mouths of their own, start screaming and promptly sprout legs and run out of my head right? Lets see.... And there they go.... they ran off. And why? Well the BADLY tiled Princess Kakyuu and ChibiChibi background could have done it, or the link banners.... I'm not sure... and I am afraid to find out.... moving on.... There seems to be places for future links, but they are just text for now.... Just stop where you are and PLEASE don't make them! I think a toddler could do a better job! There are two final links for me to view and I am thoroughly scared here. "Take my Sailor Moon quiz!".... uhm... nah... I don't think so. Why you say? Well frankly, any site that you have to give an email address to take a quiz is nothing but a ploy to give out your email address for obscene amounts of spam. Sorry, but there are free quiz services everywhere, let alone, using forms never hurt a web author in the past, why couldn't you be bothered to use it here? The last link here is for a fanfiction. Now I used to be an avid fanfiction reader, but after stumbling on one too many fics that made me want to run screaming out of frustration that these people couldn't spell simple words, I stopped reading them, so your fic will be spared my review. Lucky you. There are a few other things on this site that should be noted... DO NOT use animated cursors!!! They are annoying and there is nothing like trying to click a link and having to wait for the cursor to catch up... ugh... The "title" of the page says "God's Love is Forever/Sailor Stars" on the browser title bar, yet on the page it says "The White M". Why not "The White Moon"? Well that is because this person has taken the liberty of putting a clock on their site that covers up the "oon" of their pseudo title. This whole page is aligned to the left, which doesn't bode well considering everything is squished, yet the background tiles anyway. The moral of this story is that if you haven't at least LOOKED at an html guide, then please don't make a website, because if we find it and review it, well I doubt it will be pretty. Those pagebuilders that come with freebie sites like this one do nothing but give you crap. And that is crap on a crap cracker crap. My best suggestion for this web author is to go outback, and shoot themselves. Preferably in a vital organ for this abomination of a site. Now please, I am going to go sit in a corner now and hold my knees, rock back and forth, and repeat "I didn't just see that site" over and over until my husband comes in to find me and puts me in the mental ward. |

UranusOk, this is how my review will be done: I'm going to open the site and as I browse around I'll write up my thoughts. This is real-time. Also, for the record, I will be using the browser Opera to review all these sites. If there's something that completely doesn't function, I'll give it a shot in Internet Explorer, but I won't use IE just because something doesn't look right. Sorry folks, but I'm of the "Best viewed with any browser" school. Also, my screen resolution is 800x600. A lot of people use 1024x768, but 800x600 is still popular enough that sites should look good in it. So let's see what we have here. The White Moon opens on a splash page with a stretched-out black-and-white background picture of Princess Serenity falling. There appear to be other bg pics as well, but I can't identify them because they're cut off by the end of the screen, or covered up by the main picture of the white moon. And we have a grammar mistake right off the bat: "With. . . conversations between to morons." Now, as bad as all this is, the problem here is not the execution, it's the attempt. Unless you're using a splash page to separate high-bandwidth and low-bandwidth parts of your site, or to get people to read a necessary disclaimer, you just don't need it. But let's click on the opening link and see what happens. Ho, boy. Crystal Tokyo, we have a problem. We start off with a weird bluish background color that makes the text hard to read. Oh, wait, there's a background image? It took a while to load, even on my high-speed cable connection. Weird. I still can't read the text, though. What is the point of that? OK, let's use the old Ctrl-A trick and see what we can't see. OK, let's just sum up the layout portion of the review here: it's ameteurish at best. Everything is justified to the left (was it built for 640x480?!), you can't read the text without selecting it, foreground pictures are used as background, etc. Non-Sailor Moon-related stuff is on the same list as SM stuff. I don't enjoy navigating the site. But it'll be worth it if there's something here worth reading. So here we have the Sailor Scout Information page. Let's check out Usagi first-oops, looks like it's a continuous narrative. Would have been nice to know that. OK, I'll read in order. . . Excuse me, let me just pick up my face off the floor. Well, I learned some stuff today! Like that Minako Aino is the first Sailor Scout. (First senshi, maybe; first scout? Uh-uh) Like that Shabon Spray is an ice attack. Like that Ami's name means Asian Aquatic Beauty. Like that Juuban is a whole city. Sorry, time out, flag on the play. If you don't know everything about Sailor Moon, that's fine. Then say "maybe" or "I think" or something to indicate that you're not sure of your facts. There is one good thing here: in the Usagi profile, the author seems to indicate a dislike of Luna, and maybe Artemis. It's an interesting opinion, since those characters aren't usually the ones people dislike. If the author had expanded on that, working it into an essay instead of doing a cookie-cutter info page, it would have been something interesting. Where to next? There's the start of self-insertion fanfic. Now, some people are against this sub-genre entirely, but I enjoy a good Mary Sue now and again. There was one joke in the fic I actually laughed at, and if it's going to be a comedy, there's hope. It's too early in development to pass judgement, but it could be good, or it could be something you've read a dozen times and got bored. One thing though, Fanfic Author-san: you need a proofreader. I humbly offer my services at a mere $20 per correction. And now the part of the site I'm waiting to sink my teeth into: the quiz! It'e on the movies, and it's been a long time since I've seen any but S, and so I'm hoping for a challenge. Wait, it's an off-site link that wants my e-mail address? To heck with this. I can live without it. Let me sum up: this site needs work. The layout needs to start simpler. Kill the splash page and the background pictures, go with a color. Make the text black. Decide what you really want the site to be. Opinions, fun stuff like the quiz, fanfics. Pick one and build the site around it. Do the info page and link pages as an afterthought, if at all. Right now The White Moon is committing the worst offense a Sailor Moon page can: It's Just Like All The Rest. Oh, and whatever happened to the conversations between to (sic) morons? I was kind of looking forwad to that. I'm going to try to end every review on a positive note, because I think every site must have some redeeming feature. In this case, the site-owner is selling some VHS tapes and VCDs, and they are at reasonable prices. How reliable he is is unknown, but if you're dying for a copy of the SuperS movie dub for little money, it might be worth it to find out. But of course, caveat emptor. |

NeptuneOk for starters-I "know" the person who runs this site. And knowing myself I hate to bash. First off the splash page is horrible. The background was made by me a long time ago when I first started EWP. Not my best but I was getting used to the program. Anywho. The text here is hard to see and mistakes are clearly visible. Mainly spelling. Always double check your spelling. Sure I make mistakes but if I notice them or if someone points it out to me I change it in a heartbeat and give thanks. ~_^ Main Page: Again the text is hard to read. I had to highlight just to read everything. The text following the mouse pointer is just irritating. The clock on top is covering his title and well everything looks blah. So I guess I will continue with each link starting with: "Sailor Moon Sale"-Wrong text color with the background. Although I love the picture it just doesn't work for a background. But since it is the background, it needs to be fixed so that it doesn't scroll. Sorry but I HATE scrolling backgrounds-escpecially if it's a picture background. >.< "Sailor Scouts Info"-Erm...yeah...has just a basic color background with an image but it really doesn't suit the page. Inside this we have more links to the senshi-Usagi, Ami, Rei, Minako and Makoto. Going to Minako/Venus first. *Screams!* Since the wallpaper was made by somebody else I can't complain but what is on here I can. The images and what not do not fit and they don't go with anything. Yeah you're giving info on Sailor V/Venus but it's to crummy looking. Same for Usagi....etc.. Let's see his "Captain Moon" Link leads to a script he made. Didn't read it as it didn't even interest me. I can't read his "Favorite Links" as again the text color doesn't match the background-which again scrolls. I don't see anything on here to give credit were due. I know those wallpapers he's using for backgrounds aren't his as you can plainly see "Animewallpapers.com" on the lower right hand side. Now I'm sure the person who made the wallpapers don't mind people using them IF proper credit was used. What can be improved? The whole site. Start fresh and read some guides on how to make proper sites. I know I can't code things myself but I can sure do better then this. Make your text readable. If people have to highlight then you're asking for trouble. Also, choosing the right background. For most sites a plain (easy color on the eyes) color works best. A picture can be used on the side or maybe even on top for navagation. Having it for your background causes this: Hard to read text! It also makes the rest of your site look choppy. Either stick with one picture or stay with a basic color. |

The idea when making a website is that you make the content yourself, and only have a maximum of 2 different text sizes and styles. The content is supposed to be set out in a manner that is logical, not crammed in any way you can in a font size and colour that nobody can read. It doesn't inspire people to look any further in your site.
