UranusOn the FAQ for this site it has a question and answer about being hosted on the site's domain, with an indication that at this time only a few close friends have this privilege. Few in this case meaning eleven. Add in all the links, partner sites, and affiliates, and it gets to be a bit much. There's a thin line between being friendly with other sites and making it seem like your site is just a conduit to the others. Especially as the main menu for this site is on the same space, graphically speaking, as the list of friends' sites. But having found that menu, we can explore the site proper. The information section deals well with its subject matter, even though it has three major opinion issues. It seems manga-centric, anti-anime, and fiercely anti-Seiya. This is a good chance to talk about manga-centricity, since I'm finally getting around to reading them all this weekend. Maybe next. But no matter how good it is, it's no more the "real" version of what happens than the anime is. Nor is it inherently superior to the anime because it's more tragic. The anime has many points in its favor that counter the "It's all filler! The manga is more passion!" argument. But I digress. This site, through manga translation clips and opinion articles, attempts to dispel notions of a weak love between Usagi and Mamoru that it claims is fomented by the anime. My only problem with this is that their love seems wonderfully deep in the anime, and I'd never doubted that they saw each other as soul mates. But if such perceptions are out there, I suppose this should allay them. On to images now, and my eye catches on the Usagi and Mamoru Erotica section. Pr0n for me! Ahem, I mean, perfectly tasteful erotic art. Well, it's ineffective for both purposes because of the intensely huge watermark splayed across the middle of every image. This is what gets on my nerves about watermarking and signature. It's there so that you can identify your images when they are stolen. It's not there to advertise your site or shove it in people's faces that you host them or to take credit. Signing a piece of art you make is one thing; signing an image you scanned for credit is just lame. So, yeah, Usagi's naked. Next is Fun Stuff, which is mostly multimedia. Some of that wacky adoption stuff that I refuse to examine too closely lest I go mad, some fan fiction (down, which may be a good thing), Winamp skins (the third set is particularly nice), and miscellaneous goodness. A wallpaper site is. . . down? I get an offsite link to a page which loads up as HTML code, so I'll call it down. Overall, nothing bad here, and a lot of work in the information section particularly. The site author is very passionate about the pairing, and you could probably have fun by declaring that Mamoru would have been better off with Saori (anime) or Hina (PGSM). But of course, I do not endorse trolling. And hey, if you don't like it, there are plenty of other sites this one can send you to. |

NeptuneLayout-Not sure yet. It kind of looks like a table style layout but I have yet to click on any of the links. The background image being used right now is quite pretty! However there are three boxes. Two besides Serenity's head and the other by Endymion's head. I hope that it doesn't stay that way. *clicks on any link* Ok so the layout changes as does the image. I clicked on 'Information' and then clicked on Manga Translations. The layout changed again and it doesn't look pretty. Please be consistant with your layout. Having different styles doesn't work well. This one being used for the Manga is horrid (think Halloween colors!) and I hope it changes to something that is similiar to the first two images I've seen. I like that concept better.Content-Seeing how the layout keeps changing I'm just gonna move onto the content that is being offered. And that would be a lot. I'm not going to go into all that is offered as I want you guys to view this site for yourselves but I will mention that this site has galleries, information on the manga and anime, but no mp3s or episode clips. Sorry to the people who thought that. The site does have a lot of subsites dedicated to other senshi so you may want to check that out. I like this site for the fact that it deals mostly with the Manga and provides a lot of scans from artbooks and the manga itself. I just wish the layout would stay the same. >.> Overall Opinion-Wow this was a really really short review done by me. I kept it really short because as I mentioned before, this site has tons of things to go through and I just don't have the time to sit here and list all of them. I highly suggest this site to other Mamoru/Usagi lovers to take a few moments and view what is here. My only real complaint (if you haven't guessed already) would be the changing layout. Some of the changes are nice while others have me pondering why it looks like it does. |

PlutoAlright, we have "Usagi and Mamoru.com: A Dedication to the Eternal Lovers of Sailor Moon." Thats a mouth full, but its cute nonetheless. The background color is a nice, subtle off white color with (i think) a drawn picture of Serenity holding Mamoru as Tuxedo Kamen. From what i saw, the message board seems really nice, holding around 300+ members. Whether these members are very active or not is something i do not know. The main page is seperated into three sections: Site News, Affilations, and Main Menu. They seems to have a decent amount of partner sites and affilations so that can be a plus. In the main menu section, i clicked on "information" first. Its good to see that they are keeping the same theme for the background, just changing the couple picture from page to page. In this section, we have manga translations, "The Eternal Love Story", why Seiya isnt the guy for Usagi, DiC Summaries, (dear god), an incomplete section, and many shrines of different SM characters. In "Eternal Love Story," it simplys states multiple reasons of why Mamoru is the perfect man for Usagi and vice versa. It also has a link to the same Seiya page as the one on the main information page. Kinda pointless to have two links though. The Seiya section is a section devoted to why Usagi/Seiya are not the best couple, even though there are many people who think otherwise. On a personal note, i am not a Seiya/Usagi fan so I can agree with some of the things said on this page. In "The Very Heart of it all" section, there is a manga calendar describing specific events on specific days and such. There is also a "Quick Manga Facts" section which answers a few questions about the series, even answered a few questions of my own. And I wont even touch DiC summaries as I've seen those way too much. And to my luck, it appears to be a broken link. In Images, there are multiple images of Usagi and Mamoru from manga, artbooks, etc. Surprisingly, there is a doujinshi section. Im happy to see that the creator put multiple warnings about this page and such. In fun stuff, we have a few broken links, but from the ones that work, I see Winamp Skins, U/M awards recognition program, and a Chibi Usagi & Mamoru adoption center. If the creator can fix some of these dead links, then this is good here. The "Support" section is exactly that; a few links to other sites, auctions/sales, and mailing lists. Even Takeuchi-sama's mailing list. the Side part are the creators other sites that were previous seen in, i believe, the information section. No need to be repetitive. Ok, all and all, this site is alright. I like the way its coming. Just fix some broken links and dont be repetitive with some of ur links and there u have it. I rate this a 7/10. |

SaturnI'm on broadband and this site took a good bit to load. That doesn't make me happy. However the setup of this site is a bit annoying as well. The fanart that is used for the layout is beautiful, as is the border of the layout, but I don't care for the boxes that contain the information on this site as everything is really squished and hard for me to read as the text is small. The first box on the left advertising the fact that you can get on the mailing list to be informed when there is an update. There is also a "Site Map" for people on dialup. However I am on broadband and I am starting to think this would be the better option. There is NO reason a 5Mb connection like mine should have to resort to this so I suggest this web author talk to their hosting company. (And no it isn't my computer as my computer is running faster then ever after the reload.) Also in this box are links to a FAQ, a link to be a hostee (that could be lagging your server), where to buy SM Merchandise (There is a link and a button, redundant to say the least.), and links to a Java Chat, and a Message Board. There is another box on the upper right. This one contains the site information and credits. Affiliates and "Partner Sites" which I don't understand, and site stuff is here. Blah. Onto the bottom right corner where the other box is. Here is where the content of the site lies. However I am not sure if I like the way it is set up. When you click any of the links, it takes you to a slightly different layout which once again loads rather slowly. Once again the fanart is beautiful for the layout, but the "Information" is a bit more of essays then anything. Moving on. I like the way the image gallery is laid out, but once again as it is slow loading, I don't want to sit here and wade through all these pictures. However this gallery seems to be extensive. This site is a bit hard for me to view because of how slow it loads, so I am ducking out of it now. For once I am not even going to look for a guestbook because I am just going "wow". I thought my friend's site loaded slow but I was wrong. However this site is a good site. It really is, but the lag on it, is the biggest drawback. Overall an excellent page for the main lovers of SM. |
