Star's Sailor Palace; have I gone dyslexic and is this about Sailor Stars? No, evidently not. Most sites that have been around as long as this one has, 10 years, have the advantages of growing, constantly improving their HTML, and increasing the author's knowledge of Sailor Moon. This however is the exception that tests the rule. Its age shows in its adherence to dub-specific concepts and older file styles, and where it has attempted to modernize, it uses annoying tricks.

The layout of the site itself does its job cleanly, as it's based off of white and while all the sub-pages have slightly different backgrounds and style, they tend to mesh into a whole. Put the butterflies that follow the cursor on the home page and Luna heads that follow it on one of the sub pages has to be at the top of the list of stupid web page tricks. While many of the pages have links to pages on other anime, this is not a major infraction especially as Sailor Moon is kept to the forefront.

The first outdated file page is the midi page. Now, nothing wrong with midis, but they're very 90s. Most people have the mp3s or, if they don't, are looking for them. And here is a rather irksome problem: the names of the Japanese songs (some of them) are translated, and it's a bit confusing. "Approach the Beautiful Morning" turned out to be Motto Suteki na Asa ga Kuru Yo, but at first guess I would have said Morning Moon de Aimashou. At least there's a good selection of background music.

The Wav section follows, and it's most of the usual henshins and attacks. Not much to say, except to reiterate that JP, not "Jap," is how to abbreviate the word Japanese.

And now, the section that needs no introduction, senshi profiles. The inner senshi are the best here, because all they have are the dollbox stats and an artbook picture. Outer senshi profiles have different pictures, but no write-ups anywhere. And why are Neptune and I on the same page? I don't get my own page? World Shaking! There's also a profile of the site's author done as a senshi. The picture looks a lot like a color-reversed picture of Usagi in a bathing suit.

Probably the best page on the site is the Anime Expo archive. The author is an annual attendant, and there's some good pictures of booths and cosplayers. The author's knowledge of anime is not what you would call canonical though, as a lot of popular characters are captioned without identifying them.

Much as I am loath to have sites go to a "Version 2.0," that would probably be the best move for this site. Get some modern HTML, get some more Japanese stuff, get some PGSM, anything to take this site out of it's malaise and bring it into the modern era.

First off, NO! No, no, no! I hate that script where the images follow your mouse pointer. Bad Star's Sailor Palace, go to your room! Okay, now that's out of my system. Star's Sailor Palace has a cute simple layout..., sorry I'm still trying to get away from those images attacking my mouse pointer. I cannot stress this enough to not use those! They are just annoying!

Anyway, Star's Sailor Palace has a cute simple layout. I thought the "quote script" at the bottom of the layout was kinda cool, since you don't see it a lot on too many sites, and the option to input your favourite quotes as well made it a little bit more interactive and interesting. The subsections are usual ones seen on any Sailor Moon fan page. Such as, my favourite, MIDI!

Star's Sailor Palace also has a wav section, low quality wavs, but could still be used as resources, and the links don't seem to be broken! Also, on some pages, there is a java script menu that follows as you scroll down, bad Star's Sailor Palace! The menu has the usual information about characters and some with picture galleries. Oh, and what's this? Original content? Even though it seems to just be an inverted picture of a Sailor Moon character it's original with a description and back story, which I thought was okay since I like when people show their fandom in that way.

Star's Sailor Palace also has an introduction to Sailor Moon, and some Sailor Facts for you to navigate through. Nothing really too new to any of us, but oh well. Also a Pi-chan shrine which I thought those were just too cute! There are also E-cards, like I said, nothing too new to any of us. This site was tolerable to navigate though, although it does integrate with the gemele.com site, which is a different layout completely, which kinda get's confusing or annoying.

In conclusion, the site has a few perks to it, but also it's the same old thing we've been seeing for years and years of our Sailor Moon fandom, and the site kept me busy enough to scroll through it, without any broken links or images! So I am content with visiting this website, and I'm still trying to get away from those mouse pointer chasing images!

Star's Sailor Palace...AAAAH! There are butterflies chasing after my mouse arrow!!! Ok, i dont know exactly what the site is about so we are gonna take it one step at a time. Nice, main page...pleasing colors and cute Sailor Moon piccy on the side.

Midi files, a bunch of clips from the DiC version and the original japanese version. I was gonna d/l the Tuxedo Kamen one, but I couldnt find it. I would've loved to put that on my cell phone. lol.

Wav files are the sound clips of the different attacks of the Sailor Senshi. This is alright, but I find no use for them unless you can make a SM RPG. *shrugs* Whatever though.

Characters...has some generic information about each character, some multimedia of them if u want it, and a few piccys. The villains section is very incomplete; just The Dark Kingdom (minus Jadeite) and Galaxia. Where are the other villians? Like the Dead Moon Circus or Black Moon?!? Where are they??!?!? *tears* lol

Downloads...a few random things. No big deal here. The only thinbg that got my attention was Sm soltiare. However, the pictures on the cards are tiny and grainy. Kinda disappointed there.

A few random pics of cosplayers @ Anime Expo 2003 & 2004. btw, unknown characters 5 & 6 are Payne (FFX-2) and Samurai Rikku (FFX-2)

I thought this was the end, but there's more stuff on the bottom. lol. There's an incredibly brief description of BSSM, and Im moving into Sailor Facts now. This section has a lot about the names so far. Btw, b/c they are Japanese, we are to write it out "Family Name" then "Given name." This means its Tsukino Usagi, not Usagi Tsukino. The only time its said the opposite way is when you're discussing someone whose not from Japan. (Ex. John Smith is still John Smith)

The Sailor Moon calendar...well...its a calendar. lol. There u have it.

Ok, well, this site is...OK. It needs more life to it. Like something that will make the viewer go "WOW." I didnt see that here.

Just the loading of this site has me gritting my teeth. I understand that people like to use scripts. I understand some people like to use them a lot. However I will NEVER understand the point of using them all at once!

Not only is there a random horizontal scrollbar that pops up every few seconds that just bounces and then disappears (annoying as all get out!), but there is a string of butterflies that is following my cursor and it is driving me up the goddamn wall! I HATE THESE STUPID CURSOR FOLLOWERS!!!!

The first things I see other than the layout that is pretty poorly put together (bright yellow bars trimmed in what appears to be orange for the navigation, when the rest of the site is done in soft pinks and soft yellows....) is that this site is offering Midis and Wavs. This would have been good.... oh.... 7 or 8 years ago! Before the day of mp3s! The next thing on the navigation is Chracters, Anime Expo, Sailor Shop. That is just the TOP bar. There is another equally blinding bar below that on the page after some links to random dribble and garbage. Those links read in this order "Email Me, Intro to BSSM, Sailor Facts, Calendar, Win and Award, e-card".

Alright, there are issues with this for a reason. This sites's name is "Star's Sailor Palace" yet I don't get an intro to BSSM at all until I get to the EIGHTH link. Before that, I MUST email her, and look at her Anime Expo pictures! *watches the sarcasm drip*

The problem with this is, this person doesn't know whether to have a personal site, or to have an SM site. I am going to click the first links now...

Uhm, what the hell just happened? I clicked the Midi link and I am taken to a page that has blue hearts down the left side, some tables in the middle, and a javascripted menu up top. Not only does this menu look more like an SM site menu, but it is now a purplish color with blue links. I'm confused now folks. I am going to click back to the main site and see what happens on the next link.

Alright, this is getting SEVERELY annoying. I clicked the Wavs link and yet ANOTHER layout. Is there a different one for each page? Could this person not figure out what the term "consistancy" means? Wait, I guess they could but it just doesn't apply to their first two pages. I am getting a headache trying to comprehend all of this.

Goddammit! Another layout change! I am SICK of trying to figure out how to navigate EVERY SINGLE PAGE!!! I'm done!

This site needs help! A LOT of help! Get some consistancy and learn what it means to create a layout and stick with it! Also, drop the scripts. They royally piss off the people that see them every other second of their day.
