Ok well this site does have somewhat of a layout. Something different from the other sites that were reviewed! YAY! Now to pick it apart. The side image is squised and it repeats. >.< Poor Usagi!

Good points with this site is that it is offering different types of Media. Video clips ranging from clips from the show to openings to attacks/transformations. The webmaster does credit were they got the clips from so that's another good point. There's a range of music to choose from but I don't see where he got the music from. If they're his he should state so.

Bad Points: Well yeah, please let us know where you got your files from...Now let's check the other links. "The Viola"

Um....so it's a history lesson on the viola...may I ask why? If this is a Sailor Moon site then why is there a lesson on violas?

Fun Stuff: Has a few links to quizzes, and the PC SNES game. The last link is to "protect your PC!" I'm not even gonna click it...

Images/Profiles: A nice little page here. Let's see if it stays that way or if it makes me go blah! Ok so the profiles are done nicely! Well much better then the other sites! It starts off with some pictures of the character (in Moon's case it has images of Usagi, Moon, and Serenity). Nicely done there. For information it is based on the Japanese version. A brief description of Usagi then proceeds to name her transformations and attacks. Each profile is done the same way as Moons.

Now on to the updates page. Well it takes me to a new window. Oh well. The background is a simple blue and the text color is white so my eyes aren't hurting nor do I have to hightlight.

An "About Me" page is next on the list. *LOL* "Me and my lifeless life!" How original! Aha! Now I know why he put the viola history lesson up!!!! He plays the viola. Good for you! But again why on a Sailor Moon site?

Help section: Not every site has one of these so it's a nice change on here. Just your basic knowledge of stuff on how to save things from his site.

Overall a nice site but it could be improved. Not the best site but definately not the worst!

Breakdown of site 35/100

Welcome and site Identity 5
The welcome is pretty straightforward, even though the format is not really what I am used to for a fansite.

Navigation 4.5
Easy to navigate, but it's a bit disconcerting to have the navigation table so high up on the welcome page, rather than in a column on one side or the other. It leaves too much space to be taken up (or not) by anything, which is not necessarily good, as many designers then find it hard to fill the space. I tried to get back using a link provided and it tried to get me to view something passworded. What was that about?

Content of Interest 4
There is a distinct lack of coherent structure to the pages. Each one has a distinct lack of relevant information that can't easily be obtained by going to a more updated site, and the images get in the way of the information. There really should be separate pages for the screencaps and the information.

Advertising and sponsorship 3
A lot of 'vote for me' links but not really any reason to vote for the site as of yet. Nothing really strikes one's fancy to vote for, I'm afraid.

Self-promotion 3
Not much to promote, though the designer/owner seems to have tried.

Filler 3
Too much space taken by screencaps. The 'fun stuff' isn't really fun, and there isn't much to it to start with. In the 'about me' section, we learn far too much about the owner of the fansite than we really wanted to. *yawns*

White-space 3
There is a lot more white space than necessary and the text doesn't really flow that well with the space of the website. There's a lot of room for improvement here.

Other 4
The site shows a need for coherent structure to keep it all together. The pages are basic, utilitarian and....dare I say...boring. The information is basic and too much emphasis is put on the screencaps that precede the aforementioned information. Some of the links, the back button doesn't work for so it's a struggle to get back to the main page to move on to a different area. Some of the links also have no relevance whatsoever to the Sailor Moon universe. If you're going to do a fansite, just keep it on one topic, and one topic only.

Saturn

After a title like that, I am hoping to view a good site. I really am, but as I am staring at the front page, all I can think is "what the f*** is this cat sh** mess of a site?!"

There appears to be a background on the left.... I think....wait, yes it is.... your standard background that works on smaller res, but when I turned mine up to 1600x1200 it tiles..... badly..... This doesn't bode well

I am going to take a time out here as I am sure some of you are going "why view it in such a high resolution?" Well the point of web design is to make a site that is functional informative and has some content that keeps the viewers coming back. If a viewer is something like a hard core gamer, or somebody that does graphic design for a living, they will sometimes have these very high resolutions to get as much out of their screen and video card as they can. If you make a website that only works on so many resolutions, then that takes away the functionality of it and makes it harder to navigate, makes it look bad, and makes some or (in some cases) all of your visitos turn their back to it and never come back. So keep this in mind when building sites. Make sure that it is friendly to all users. Just because it looks good to you doesn't mean that it will look good for everybody, so try it out on different resolutions, or if you can't have a friend or a random stranger try it out for you. I never hurts to have a second, third, fourth, or fourteenth opinion. And just think that all those "opinions" translate into hits for your site ^_~

Alright, back to reviewing the site.

First off other then the background on this site, there is a banner at the top, your typical Geocities advert banner on the right (ugh...) and a blue box in the middle of the page that contains the guts of the page. Why have the background with a sliver of an image on the left, lots of white for content, and then have this blue box over top? I am scratching my head at this one, but as the sites title brandishes the 5.5b, I hope that he corrects this when it comes to final version.

Alright, there is something in the middle that says "Sailor Saturn Wins!".... uhm... wins what? So I figured I would read on and maybe be told..... I was right! Hallelujah! The holy grail of the page! Two lines that state it all. Please read

"Welcome to Sailor Senshi Palace! Here you'll find Image Galleries of the Inner and Outer Senshis (Starlights/Villains/Others coming on NOV 2004!), tons of Mp3s (includes all Senshi Singles!), a bunch of video clips from Attacks to Transformations to opening sequences and random tv clips. Inside Fun Stuff, you'll find a not so easy QUIZ, SNES roms (GAMES!) and other stuff!

ONE LITTLE ADVICE: Please take the time to READ the past 3 UPDATES including the alerts/warnings/notes you will find throughout this site. IT WILL REALLY make your life easier! HAVE FUN!"

Alright, so as he tells me to, I am going to read the updates.

From the update page, I am told that the MP3s will not be up until summer of 2K5.... Why so long? The only reason he gives is that it is "tough being an 11th grade AP student". Sorry Mr. Guy, but when I was in 11th grade, I took all AP classes, and extra curricular activities coming out the wazoo, worked 55 hours a week at the local pizza place, and I STILL found time to do my site. Now some of you will go "well that is you Saturn, not him!" and as well as that might be true, I still don't like people who make excuses. If I could find time to do it between all I had to do back then and my procrastination, I am sure this person can as well. But then again, he is on Geocities, so seeing that, I wouldn't want to do it either as Geocities.... well, we all know about Geocities....

He goes on to talk about how making image galleries is hard...sorry but with all my years of experience, the hardest part of a page is NOT an image gallery.... the hardest part is usually concept and design, but seeiing that this page lacks any REAL design, it doesn't surprise me that he finds image galleries hard....

Ok folks, I am going to move onto these "image galleries" that are so difficult and see what is here that is so difficult....... uhm.... they are nothing more then thumbnails that open to bigger images.... WHAT IN HELL IS SO HARD ABOUT THUMBNAILS FOR PEOPLE?! I understand that sometimes making them can be time consuming, but damn, they are NOT difficult.... But there is one thing that burns my biscuits black in these "galleries".... NOWHERE is there a lick of credit! NONE! You would swear that he was the first person in the world to have these pictures from his own high school sources! DAMMIT PEOPLE IF YOU DON'T START CREDITING YOUR SOURCES I AM GOING TO START HUNTING SEASON A LOT EARLIER THEN NORMAL THIS YEAR!

Audio section is poorly set up.... don't tell me on the main page to click "Audio" and then take me to another page to take me to audio as well... it is redundant, annoying, and drives me crazy... On top of this, apparently Geocities wasn't bad enough, so he had to resort to a Tripod account as well to fuel this pathetic nonsense of a site... I won't even start on the "video" page as it is just as bad as the audio... redundant, and he even talks about his bandwidth exceeding.... sorry but you can get these videos from much better sites that don't have the bandwidth issues that a Geocities website does.... aka, this kid stole these clips and once again hasn't credited a damn thing.... please don't show up in a dark alley with me anywhere around....

Fun Stuff (not fun), Help Section (not helpful), About Me (only if it includes your address so I can beat you up), Guestbook (gee, lemme think on this one), and oh man, this one just fits perfectly with your typical Sailor Moon page... "The Viola"....

I understand that Michiru played a violin in the manga and in the animation, however, nowhere do I remember ANYBODY playing a viola. Oh wait! This is a history lesson on a viola!!!! *gets out the difibrulator to start her heart again* Alright, now that I am beating again, lemme ask this.... WHAT THE BLOODY F*** DOES A VIOLA HAVE TO DO WITH SAILOR MOON?! An "About Me" page makes sense as it gives me somebody to blame for this site, but why didn't you put "The Viola" section into your "About Me" page?! It doesn't fit, it has nothing to do with Sailor Moon, and yet you have included it on a page that is called "The Sailor Senshi Palace"... frankly you need to do one of two things, either change your title or change your content.

This one is in "The Bad" column. Can you figure out why? I am still questioning what the hell is the point of this site myself. Now I will go sit back and have a nice long island ice tea as I recover from this piece of garbage....

Uranus

Oh, goodie, another Geocities page. Let me pull my knitting needles out of my ball of yarn and prepare them for jabbing into my eyes. The Sailor Senshi Palace. OK, yeah. We'll give it a shot.

Hey, guess what's up first?! I'll give you a hint: it starts with "s" and ends with "enshi profiles." Just ones for the nine planetary senshi, so it comes with a freaky Brady Bunch-style layout. Each profile comes with an image gallery of randomly thrown together pics. And we've got inaccuracies for you. Case in point: in Venus's profile, it mentions the S episode where her volleyball talent is revealed, and says that the male volleyballer witnessed her transformation. In the episode, though, he witnessed Venus doing the flying serve return, which he had seen Minako doing, and that's how he identified her. How hard is this? If you're not sure, go watch the show. Oh, and one more inaccuracy that pisses me off to the highest, if only because it's been perpetuated everywhere: in Saturn's profile, it says that Hotaru's classmates were scared of her healing powers. NO! They were scared of her because she hurt people while posessed by Mistress 9. We're never told exactly what she did, and even Hotaru herself doesn't know. But they're not scared of her healing-why would anyone be scared of that?

The other major complaint I have about this page is there are parts of it that have less than nothing to do with Sailor Moon. Which is fine and good, but don't put them on a page called the Sailor Senshi Palace. There's a whole diatribe on the viola versus the violin. There's a page on keeping spyware off your computer. There's supposed to be a page on SNES roms, but I gave it an hour and it still didn't load.

There is some good stuff here, some video clips and such, but nothing that can't be found elsewhere. There are frequent updates, however, so maybe there's hope. I'd like to see those profiles 86'ed, though.
