NeptuneYes, I know the owner quite well but I am not affiliated with SMP so I am doing this review. I will keep this review unbiased as possible. Just thought I share that. Also know that the site takes a bit to load only because the bandwidth is being used for Ballads and Bows-Elly's other site.Welcome-Nice splash page of Manga Serenity and Endymion. States required settings to view the site at it's best. Also has a counter. *Clicks enter* Layout-Simple yet elegant. However, there's a large gap on the left but atleast it's not white. Maybe have the layout centered so that there's an equal "gap" on both sides? Just a suggestion. The site offers lots of content (and the link is listed as such) including gallaries, episode guides, icons, coloring books, wallpapers, and more. Easy navigation and all the links work. With that let's move onto the content. *clicks 'content' link* Content-There are TONS of MSN icons that feature your favorite Senshi (villian senshi are not included). They're for your personal use only so please don't redistribute them. Some of the wallpapers look like they could be tweaked for layouts (NO DO NOT TAKE THAT LITTERALLY) and they are beautiful to look at. My fav would have to be the ChibiUsa/ChibiChibi one at the bottom. Kawaii! There's no media on this site but I don't think that takes anything away from the site. The images here clearly make up for that. Good job with that. The fanart I just love. (Yes I love looking at fanart because people seem to draw from thier hearts and not copy an image.) I envy the artists here and my favorite one so far has to be Neo-Queen Serenity located at the bottom of the first page. Shame that I need to tilt my head to view it but oh well. Lovely nonetheless. Background/text-A nice shade of purple with black text. Nothing blinding and highlighting isn't needed. I don't see anything that needs improvement here so I will end my review. Overall opinion-Everyone can learn something from this site. The webmistresses knows her stuff when it comes to HTML and shows it. Everything works and if something doesn't, the webmistress let's us know. My only real complaint is the huge gap on the left but it really doesn't distract me from viewing the rest of the site. Good job Elly! |

PlutoSerena's Moon Palace. Well, the splash page took a while to load, but I heard its from switching servers so I must ignore that. Nice splash page, charming pic of Endymion and Serenity. the hit counter works and the background is subtle.Ok, main page. Same picture as the splash page. Updates are in the center. Actually, everything is in the center of the page. The site is divided into four parts: site, content, fandom, and sisters. "Site" section has link text THATS hard to read as it blends in with the background color. Links are little buttons for her site. All work except for one. Flames! Always fun to read. You get to see how dumb ppl really are. lol. Once again, the link color is hard to read. The Awards are things that ppl can win for having a good site, and Im happy to say that all of the links work. There's a 404 error on the 'about' section. The links out section are links to other SM sites of interest and sister sites. "Content" section are images, episode guides, profile, and AN 2004! hey! I was @ AN 2004. Very cool. There are a lot of pictures here, so you wont be disappointed in the quanity. The episodes are...interesting. There all "A+" There should be some variety in the grading scheme as I thought a few episodes of SM were pointless and didnt influence the storyline all that much. The AnimeNext section brought back some memories of the craziness that is NJ cosplay. lol. "Fandom" includes Fanfics, quiz, and one of the funnier things I've seen; "You Know You Watch Too Much Sailor Moon When..." Its so true, its scary. "Sisters" are buttons to the creator's sister sites and affiliates. Alright, this site is pretty good. Just fix a few things and this site will sore like a free bird. ^^ |

ChibimoonLavender is good. I thought the hiccup in the main page was just that. This site loads way too slow. I have a fast connection, so I know there are dialup users who could be ripping their hair out trying to access this site.I can see she has lost heart in the site or has better things to do. Infrequent updates indicate this. Concerning the ever increasing issue of layout credit theft, I see she is burning out trying to monitor where everything is going.
Quoting:
Her updates page is a web log. I don’t think SM fans care about reading a paragraph or 20 about the goings on of the site master. That of course, is my opinion. I thought after clicking the main page entrance button that I would be taken to a better page to navigate from. The site is a chore to navigate. The slow pages loads frustrate me. If there is anything this person can glean from my pitiful review, PLEASE GET A NEW HOST! Clicking on galleries is like pulling a hang nail! After clicking around, I tried the episode guide section. There is a rating section concerning the episodes. No surprise, every episode is rated A+. Nah, she’s not biased, no sir. Clicking on the first episode, I get a 404 error, mind you Chi is hot, but I thought this was a SM site. This is just a pain in the ass click on a menu, to get another menu and sometimes get yet another menu! Then WAIT for your selection to come up…Nope that is not what I am interested in. Ack! What did I click on to get there? Was it under fandom, or content? I practically have A.D.D., especially for websites. The content is there, but the organization, combined with the HORRIDLY SLOW pages loads cripple this site’s overall appeal. |

UranusWe now come to an issue that has heretofore gone unmentioned, because it simply hasn't come up: loading time. This site, specifically its images, takes a long time to load. Now, if you're a site reviewer, you've got to stick around for the whole thing, but if you're a casual viewer, it might make you leave. The proper attitude is to treat slow loading times like a broken link--as a problem that needs to be fixed, not a server issue or a natural state of things. If your host is no good, find a comparable one to see if it's any faster. If none are good, then you may have to spend a little more money. If that's a problem, start soliciting donations. But fix it.However, if you did leave because of the slow loading, you'd miss a fun little site, and an efficient one at that. The menu links are nicely divided, and you know that "Content" and "Fandom" are the places to spend your time, and that "Site" and "Sisters" are only for when you are done. If there is a critique to the layout, it's that it is rather thin, and that half my screen is wasted. So let's start with the content. Problem. 75% of this part is image-driven, and with the loading times it becomes virtually intolerable to go through them. Another 12.5%is on hiatus, and the remainder is senshi profiles. Those are listed in alphabetical order, which is something I've never seen. Distance from the Sun, or order of appearance, is the proper ways to order those. Actually, all in the recycle bin in no order is equally acceptable. These have write-ups, and they seem to include some manga information, trying to reconcile the characters from the various versions. This is a noble endeavor, and I would like to see it attacked with more zeal. Also here is a review of the aite author's attendance at AnimeNext 2004, a wonderful convention to which I went myself. To all fans who have thought of it, let me tell you, or let this page do it for me: go to conventions. It's a blast, very informative, and a great way to support the industry. OK, while I let the wallpapers page load, I'm flipping over to the fandom section. There's a You Know You Watch section that may reflect the author's own obsession. Again, a good thing. Also there is a quiz, but you have to be perfect, so be careful. The questions aren't too hard, but shame, shame for having a "How many episodes are there?" question with 1000 being one of the choices. Don't make me dream so. The wallpapers page has finally loaded, and the artist seems to have good technique with choosing and placing a single image. Some of them are quite common, though, and I don't care for wallpapers whose images I see everywhere. But, that aside, excellent use of space and superb blending. So the biggest thing I can say for this site is that it either needs to change hosts or back off on being so image-intense. It would not be the worst thing in the world if just the wallpapers were moved somewhere, even to a free image host, as a sign of good faith. I look forward to getting deeper into the site when such repairs are effected, because it's quite worth the effort. |
