Neptunemanga style! pretty soldiers in sailor suits-If you don't know of this site, I'm gonna personally hunt you down and smack you! This is THEE place to find ALL manga goodness! *is in heaven* manga style is run by the same person who runs sailormusic.net so you know this site is jam packed with images! Let's continue on with the review.Layout-Ooooooooo the layout changed. It used to be blue awhile back and I must say I love this version 10x more! Easy navigation with the menu on the right hand side. You can also choose which style you want to view the site in! Nice idea-especially if a browser has trouble viewing the main style. All the links work-well the ones I have clicked on, but I'm pretty sure the rest of them work. Content-Images upon images of the manga artbooks, splash pages, manga covers/backs, etc. WOWIE! I noticed that the webmistress noted how long it took her to rescan artbook 1-about a month! You know a webmistress enjoys her site when she redoes something for her viewers! There's also a shopping guide, glossary of terms and links to other sites... basic stuff there. The image gallary is WAY to freakin' big for me to go one by one and review but I'll sum it up in two words: Nicely done! Improvement-Uh....I think the webmistress is improving her site by making it browser friendly as possible and is on the ball if there's a broken link or what have you. I don't see anything that needs improving. Overall Opinion-Easy. This site gets a 5/5 if I were to grade it on a scale. So much work yet the site looks really professional. Fans love this site for all the Manga goodness it brings. Thank you so much for all of your hard work! It shows! |

PlutoManga Stle! pretty soldiers in sailor suits...yes they are. ^_^ Ok, just by the name, I can tell this is a site dedicated to the sailor moon manga. Well, let me say that I like the main page display. Easy navigation, charming image of Sailor V, and its still being updated. Good so far.The art gallery is really well done, piccys and linear notes on all the artbooks, piccys of the PGSM calendar, some original works, splash pages of the sailormoon channel, and the newly revised coverart for the manga. Im pleased to see that there are links to where you can buy these manga as well. Only problem here was some broken link piccys on the "original works" section. About the Manga section holds a nice and brief description of the sailor moon and its prequel: Code Name wa Sailor v. I like the fact that this person did not try to summarize the whole series on one page because when people do that, they prevent people from actually buying the manga. Brief discriptions work well. ^_^ The early designs part has a few broken links on it, so i would encourage that thos eget repaired. Moving on, there is a section on its creator, Takeuchi-sama. Even provides info on her works other then Sailor Moon & Sailor V. No probs here, so moving on... Information section, provides a shoppinh guide to where you can purchase merchandise from the SM series; DVDs, Japanese Mangas (English ones are out of print), and few music CDs, etc. It warns here that most CDs are bootlegs so its up to u if u wanna get them. There is also a glossary of some terms that people usually see when they discuss manga. Very helpful for a person just starting out in the manga world. And finally here, links..well, there's quite a lot of links here. This site sections holds info about the webmistress and her contact info. It also provides link buttons just in case u wanna link to this site, collection of updates, and awards received. ya know, I liked this site. Well made and very informative. Thank you for allowing my visit to be painless. (Just fix those few broken links) |

SaturnAlright I am going to try to do this review quickly while my internet connection is willing. *Plots the death of every Comcast worker ever and their incessant ramble that it is OUR side when it clearly isn't on FOUR computers and a perfectly working router as we tried BOTH of the routers that we have!!!!*Ahem.... Manga Style. I have long been a fan of this site. My first impression is that I am glad to see that this site is staying up to date. That is one of the down sides to the Sailor Moon Website World. Basically a lot of sites start out well but then quickly go down hill. And usually fall into disrepair as they are not updated regularly or at all in some cases. This however is NOT one of those sites as the last update was a couple of weeks ago.
I have skimmed down the page and I am a bit pissed off to read this blurb:
You know as much as people like to knock IE, it is still around because people DO indeed use it. It is still used by the MAJORITY (somewhere around 85% of the worlds internet users are using it) of web surfers and I am sick of people acting like one browser is better than another. No browser is better than the next one. It is personal opinion. And I hate to inform this person, but I don't know what popups are anymore as I have SP2 installed. I have never had to HACK a site to make it IE compliant, however I HAVE had to deal with other browsers not accepting simple things like... oh.... say.... JAVASCRIPT, which our site operates on. I don't feel that a lot of these other browsers are much of an upgrade at all as some of them don't accept common things that have been around for YEARS. To me that isn't an upgrade but a downgrade, and for what? A built in popup blocker that I already have? Tabbed browsing that I don't like? Please, if I insulted you, so be it, but don't tell me that your browser is superior to mine just because I don't find that your browser is better. I find that IE is functional and serves its purpose and on top of it, I didn't have to install something extra to my machine to use it. It came native, meaning it is made to work with my OS. *end rant Alright, this site boasts the usual Image Galleries, Information, and Site information. I really do encourage you to view this site. Hense I am not going to review these sections. They are extensive and deserve viewing. As for those people that are viewing this site with IE and actually happen to have no issues with it. I hear ya. Don't worry I will never belittle your browser or any other one ^_~ |

UranusSo now we finally reach the head of the octopus. This site has been linked from so many other sites and from so many blogs and journals and on so many forums. Its pictures have been taken and reposted and edited and cut and pasted all across the Inter-Web. Now we have a chance to climb to the top of this Sailor Moon Mount Sinai and see the materials directly.Perhaps the best, most noticeable quality that sets this site apart from all the others is its maturity. The tone of the site is not like the fan sites who squeal over their subjects like fangirls do at conventions (not that I'm condemning this practice--I love fangirls). Nor is it like that of the falsely pretentious sites which play teacher and insult the reader's intelligence. Instead, it's straightforward and clear, realizing that readers won't be scared by a few words of Japanese and won't be impressed by flashy colors and fonts. The site FAQ follows this, giving direct policies without admonishing potential miscreants, and it even explains what direct linking is for those who don't know. Much of that problem is caused by people not knowing that it's wrong. The information section has a small glossary for those who are completely uninitiated and don't even know what, say, a mangaka is. Also a buying guide, which only links Amazon for English manga, but at least has links to the used books part of it with the best prices. They're not cheap though. Better information exists for getting the artbooks and other merchandise. Actual information about the manga and Takeuchi gets its own section, but it could have been added to information. Again, excess emotion is avoided as the history takes a kind of "A&E's Biography" approach to reporting facts. But the heart and soul of the site is in scanning. This is where the masses come to get manga pics to propagate and edit. Is it a deep gallery with thousands of pictures to choose from? No. But what it has is artbook scans and Takeuchi originals that show the senshi and other manga characters unfettered by backgrounds and other characters crossing paths. It's just the characters in there purest form, or in other words, exactly the kind of picture an image maker needs as raw materials. Is there any wonder that the site is so popular? It stays right on top of new developments, and when the manga was re-released in Japan with new covers, Manga Style had them up good and early. Having never been here before, I expected a major site just based on the frequency of links.to it, but what I found is a nice home-like web site that doesn't try to do too much. Just one person with a scanner and a lot of Sailor Moon material and a willingness to put one through the other. See how easy it can be to make a good site? |
