SaturnThe name of this site gets me excited. I have always been a fan of the Three Lights and their princess. I also am excited to see that this site doesn't blind me. It is done in soft subdued purples with a sketchy drawing of Taiki on the left. However, this is a page of networked sites it seems.... (In the future, I will not accept pages like this for submission, but will only take the subsites instead.) As such I will be looking into the subsites. Starlight Pops! Interesting name and very nicely done on the layout. I like the blues. They give a cool "starry" feeling to me. There is SO much in the "Melody" section that I could easily spend the next few hours reading it, however I am not here to criticize EVERYTHING as this is a subsite. However I am now in the "Harmony" section which contains the fanworks. I took the liberty of viewing the fanart and all I can say is "WOW!". Some of it is great. Some of it is less then stellar, but some of it will take your breath away. (the section also gave me a great idea ^_^;) I think it is enough to say that Starlight Pops! is worth a view. Now let me check out some of those other sites on the main page. Kinmoku Koibito is a fanclub of sorts, so I am skipping it for digging into. However I will say that the layout of it is gorgeous. Sailor Stars Tsukuttemiyou! is a site full of images and media. However there are lots of craft kits that can be printed out and such here and they are rather cute to say the least. The layout of this page is a bit unsettling. I like pink but I don't like THIS color of pink sadly. Also the SD Venus just seems horribly out of place for some reason. The last page on this list is Taiki-Kou.com As Taiki is NOT my favorite of the three (I'm a Yaten fan), I am a bit bummed even to see that the color scheme on here doesn't do Taiki justice. The purple and black is nice, and I know those are Taiki's "colors", but they just don't do it for this site. This site is mostly what seems to be a webring. That being said, back to the main page again. This site has a nice disclaimer and links of sister sites on the left. Overall a nice site, however I am a bit disappointed at whoever submitted this one for not viewing the site first before submitting it. As such, if anybody submits the subsidiary sites that are on this page, we can review them seperately, but please in the future, even if you LOVE that site, don't submit sites that are just a jumping off page for other sites. |

UranusThe Sailor Starlights have never inspired quite as strong a range of opinions as have the planetary senshi, possibly due to the lack of neatly color-coded uniforms. Nonetheless, we have here a shrine to the Starlights, named after a Meat Loaf song, and not a good one either. The layout (of the shrine, which technically seems to be its own page, but if I'm to limit myself to the domain's page, this review can go nowhere.) is themed in a stark blue, which does not work well. It simply seems outdated, too reminiscent of the type of page one would see on free providers. The anime picture of the Starlights adds to the lack of subtlety. Once in the sub-pages the look becomes a touch more modern, so perhaps the author is aware of the staleness of the look, but just hasn't gotten around to changing it yet. But let's talk content. I'll look first at the information section. There's too much basic information here. Someone who's come to a page on the Starlights is not unfamiliar with Sailor Moon in general. Nor, most likely, do they need to know the simple information on who each of the Lights are. It also doesn't help that the essays explaining them are written in a very homework-assignment style. There seems to be a disembodied voice hanging over the pages saying "Use specific examples from the series. Be sure and add in some of this week's vocabulary words." Et cetera. Of better style is the page detailing the major misconceptions on the Lights by those who haven't seen the show, such as the genders and the given name/family name issue. Here it takes a much-needed definitive stance, giving the correct answers and making it clear that these are not debatable questions. As the information page gets deeper, the sophomoric style is seen less and less, and some genuinely interesting tidbits are here. I especially like the seiyuu page. The next section has some stuff on fanart and music and such, but I skip right past that because my favorite type of section is here, opinions! The best thing I can say about these is that they seem fair and understanding, aware that there are other points of view out there. It is also not restrictive on the Usagi-Seiya pairing, which is refreshing. Just a brief jaunt to the image galleries now, which are well-stocked. They're credit-for-use, though, or, if you're of my mentality, no use at all. However, in a nice break from a depressing norm, they are shrunk thumbnails, not cropped. There are some nice animated gifs of the Starlights' henshin sequences to highlight the page. A multimedia page exists, and the reason to go here would be the movies page. There are some lyrics and some midis for completeness, but the movies sell it. The attacks and henshin sequences are there, as well as some dialogue clips from Sailor Stars. The page might suffer from too much diversity, but most of the pages are deep enough to make it not matter. I'd prefer it if the link to the shrine were more prominent on the home page, and if that initial layout were updated, and if the basic info was shown the door, but other than that, I've nothing to complain about. |

NeptuneLayout-There doesn't seem to be a layout for this site as it offers links to the webmasters' other sites listed on the main page. So I will go through the links provided and go from there.First up is Starlight Pops! This site is a shrine to the StarLights of Kinmoku. Let's disect the site. ^^ Layout-At first glance it looks as though this is an iframe but after clicking on "Melody" the layout changes. The menu is on the left and bunch of links about each of the StarLights. There's A LOT of information here so you'll need to take your time viewing this part of the site. I would like to mention that the links in the menu is the same as the links offered on the right but it doesn't harm the site at all. Everything is easy to navigate and works. Let's move onto the content this part of the site offers. Content-A gallery is present as well as multimedia (labeled 'Live Concert'). There's lots of content and I have to say YAY! *looks* SeraMyu MIDIs??!!! Coolies! There's also clips from the Anime (including the German Dub), Lyrics, wallpapers, icons, sheet music and more. Definately time consuming to view. I'll leave that up to you to do as I still need to visit the other sites listed on the main page. Kinmoku Koibito-The next site listed is an unofficial fan club. hehehe....The layout is simple and easy on the eyes. This is your basic fanlisting type site only named different. LOL! If you are interested, read the rules and sign up. Tsukuttemiyou is next on the list. Awe! Oh cute! This portion of Kinmoku.net offers paper crafts from the last season of Sailor Moon. Layout-Very simple yet cute. Menu is on the left and everything works as it is supposed to. (Meaning the links work.) Let's see what's available! Content-Firstly, I suggest reading the "How to Use" section if you're intersted in downloading the crafts. Make sure you have the right programs otherwise why bother downloading! The two download links offer the paper crafts. Very cute and if I had the time I would download them and try it out. Last but not least is Taiki-Lou.com! This little portion is a free subdomain to anyone who will take the time to make a site dedicated to Star Maker (Taiki Kou) only. Very intersting concept and I bet there are a few of you who will be willing to take this person up on thier offer. hehehe OK! Done with that! Phew! Kinmoku.net is definately worth viewing as it offers lots of things via subdomains. Take a look for yourself if I haven't convinced you! |

PlutoKinmoku.net. hmmmm, "Viva Meatloaf." I wont pretend to understand. Well, this site is very purple. It seems to be a domain of webpages dedicated to the Sailor Starlights. The sister sites and such on the left are kinda not there. So, the websites on this site are: "Starlight Pops, Kinmoku Koibito, Sailor Stars Tsukuttemiyou, and Taiki-Kou.com"Starlight Pops: This is a shrine of the three starlights. There are three sister sites on this page, and this subsite is seperated into Melody, Harmoney,Accompaniment, Live Concert, and Rhythum. Melody= Info, Harmony= Fanart, Accompaniment= Images, Live Concert= Music, Multimedia, Rhythum=Site updates and such. The part is very organized. All the links work, and everything is very detailed. Kinmoku Koibito is a fansite of the Starlights. Its a charming midnight blue and every link is in good order and well detailed. The creator of these sites is doing a good job so far. Sailor Stars Tsukuttemiyou. I've seen this site before. It provides cool and neat downloads that let u make these cute little Sailor Moon things. My fav is he Sailor Moon paper airplane. lmao. The only thing here that can present a problem is that the complete instructions w/ video are not dial up friendly. I guess if you wanna make these things, get DSL or something. Other then that, this is well organized site as well. The final site is Taiki-Kou.com This site seems to be the most...generic out of all of them. There's not much to this site, regrettably. In my opinion, this is "odd ball" of the four. Well, this site was pretty good. Well organized and such. Not bad @ all. |
