Brought to you by the same person who did Moonlight Fortune, Eternal Melody is about the anime, and begins with a splash screen with some weird restrictions, like browser and screen size, and some I don't know what are and so will ignore. But there's a nice shoujo-ai pic to go with them, so all is forgiven. Entering the main site there's the full version of the pic-it's Sailor Lethe and Sailor The-one-who's-always-paired-with-Lethe. No one can spell that. The rest of the layout is nice and compact, not even needing a scroll bar on the home page.

The information section comes first, and there's really nothing a big fan won't know. There's a nice, if brief, writeup of the history of Sailor Moon, and actual written senshi profiles. Unfortunately, the written parts come only after the dreaded dollbox statistics. Which includes one humorous mistake: Furuya Toru is listed at Mamoru's voice actress.

Only two more main sections to go. Interactive has awards your site can win, a feedback form (mislabelled a survey) and some cute games. I recommend the trivia quiz, as it questions you on some fine points of knowledge. Be careful in answering! And there's Multimedia. It's got some midi's, and points are given for having some or the less-famous songs. Like Koibito ni wa Narenai Kedo. And here's something unique: reviews of the Sailor Moon video games. Even if the reviews are a little gushing, it's worth going just for the screenshots. Anyone want to send me a Japanese Super NES so I can play these? *^_^*

As a kind of post-script, there's the Site section, with links and things for other website authors. And while most of what is here is very good, the depressing thing is that there have been no updates since July, which means it could well be dead. Which is too bad because were it frequently updated, it'd probably be a site worth repeated visits. The author is still active, so my advice is to check it out once and then maybe again if you're bored someday.

Splash page: Very decent. Simple and elegent with your standard browser information. ^^ *Clicks on Enter*

Main: Again very elegent and simple. Looks like a pop-up type layout but it works well. The text is very easy on the eyes and I don't have to highlight anything. It says that the site hasn't been updated in a while but it's still pretty to look at and enjoy. ^^

Let's start with the first link "Information" to see what's in store for me. Ok I was wrong. Not a pop-up layout. :smiles: ~Ahem~ Ok under the "Information" tab it gives me more links like the 'Origin' of Sailor Moon. Ok I'll click on it. Just like the link says, it's a description of the origin of Sailor Moon. It's nicley done and detailed enough for newcomers to understand where the show came from.

Under 'The Rising" I'm taken to a little article that is explaining how Sailor Moon became known to the English speaking Market (via DiC) and lists how Sailor Moon is available-DVDs, Manga and the like.

I clicked on the "Peak" link and it's about the new version of the show, PGSM. It also includes information on the reprint of the Manga in 12 Volumes.

"Synopsis" is just that. The author gives a brief description of each Anime Arc and also does the three movies as well as 'Ami's First Love'.

Again "Biographies" is just as it sounds-very detailed information tho. It does have your basic "stats" but the author makes up for it by giving more information then other sites by providing VAs for the characters and how many episodes that VA did.

Well there's a couple of more links under the "Information" tab but I am going to skip it to go to the other tabs.

"Interactive" is next on the list! "Awards, Survey, Search Game and Trivia" Just some fun things to do on this site. Hehe..the ChibiChibi game!

Next tab is the "Multimedia" section!!! Let's see we have "Music, Game Reviews, and Merchandise". If you are looking for some Midis then this site is for you!! In the 'Game Reviews' she, well, reviews the many games that were available one time or another. 'Merchandise' has images of what has been released Sailor Moon wise. Under "Other Books"-I have the very first Anime Album!! Woot!!! *Ahem*

Moving on! I'm now under the "Site" tab! Basic things for a site so we won't bother with the links. Wait!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She has a credits page!!! Yippie!!!! Sorry I HAD to get that out! hehe

Overall Opinion-A wonderful site that's full of information and things to do! *Cough* I still haven't found that dang marble! *Cough* Viewers will enjoy this site and I will definately be coming back!

Breakdown of site 75/100

Welcome and site Identity 8
-a nice tasteful splash page, leading to a welcome page with a site map link. Very well done. It definitely tells the visitor what s/he will find on the site *smiles* Everything looks classy and tasteful, with muted colours, not bold, brash or in your face.

Navigation 7
-The navigation is great, with little tabs for each section of this site, even one for the main page. There could be more to it tho, with more sections and information. The site map link on the front page is a great idea and one that more people should adopt. The navigation links lead to a page with more links. It's like following a link trail. You don't really know what you're going to find at the end.

Content of Interest 7
-The content is great, don't get me wrong. It's just that there isn't enough of it. Brief write-ups don't really count for me when looking for information. Following too long of a link trail isn't all that exciting either. Eventually people will get tired of looking and go elsewhere. The visitor's attention span isn't very long, so you gotta grab 'em while you can, or they'll go elsewhere. The search game is great, and the trivia is funny (I failed btw LOL)

Advertising and sponsorship 7
The links are well set out in categories and not overcrowded. It makes a lot of organisational sense as well. The banners and buttons to be used for linking are in keeping with the theme of the site as well, and not overly busy or tacky.

Self-promotion 7
-Self promotion through awards won is a great idea, but if you're going to have site links, at least make sure the sites still exist. I believe that only one or two of the links actually go to the right sites now. Some updating might be in order for that.

Filler 8
The survey is a great idea, getting reviews from visitors would help in knowing what they want to improve the site. The games and stuff are all great fun too, even if I did fail them *grins* the first time round. The sprites and fanlistings are cute as well.

White-space 7
The design is more for 800x600 resolution, so there is an incredible amount of space not being used around the main design, but that's all right, as long as that's understood. Ideally the site should be designed for all resolutions tho. The information is set out in an organised fashion and easy to read. Easy on the eyes too.

Other 7
Overall, I was pretty impressed with this website. There are a few things to work on but on the whole, this site is very well designed, with the needs of the visitor in mind. the information is interesting as well as accurate and there are few spelling/grammar mistakes to worry about. Very well done and just what I would expect from Sakuya *smiles*

Today for review is Eternal Melody, an information site.

Overall Rating: 3.5 out of 4

Upon first loading the page, I was pleased to see a splash image and brower requirements... always a good thing, since there are still plenty of people wandering around the internet on dinosaur computers. Clicking on the image brings you to the main site.

The layout and structure of the site is great -- aesthetically pleasing and functional. Quality of the image of Lethe and Mnemosyne is good, the layout won't seem to break no matter what I try to do to it XD, and the colors work well together.

Additionally, this site has some great information, and I'd definitely recommend it to the new fan. From what I read (and I didn't read it all -- it'd take me over an hour most likely, she's got so much there!), all of it is accurate. As far as information goes, though, it's not the best site for reference. For example, her synopsis page is spoiler-less, so if you go there to look something up that you've forgotten, you won't find it. Maybe a solution to this would be to have seperate spoiler and spoiler-free synopsises of the seasons on seperate pages. She's also hit on a few of my pet peeves -- calling the Shitennou "generals" and using the misspelled "Tenou" instead of "Ten'ou" for Haruka's family name. The character biographies are not just the basic boring crap either, she's actually put some thought into each character, but they get a bit shorter outside the Inner Senshi. Also, with all the great imformation on this site, I'm surprised there are no character biographies for the SuperS and Stars villians, along with biographies for the Starlights, Kakyuu and ChibiChibi. Unfortunately, there is virtually no information on this site about the storyline or characters of the manga, which is the main improvement I would recommend. It's probably the area that most new fans and even old ones want to know about, with the manga being now pretty much unavailable to English-speaking fans.

Outside the information section, the other sections are a bit slim on content, but I realise the purpose of this site is really information. There is a small and nicely organized midi section, reviews for games (I didn't even know there was an arcade Sailor Moon game!), a search game and awards, among other things. Another suggestion I have for improvement is larger images of all the merchandise she's scanned -- the thumbnails are nice and actually really helpful as a refernece, but it'd be even better if there were versions of the scans even slightly larger than 70x110.

Overall, this is a great site for people new to Sailormoon who want to know more. The layout is nice and easy to navigate. The only improvements I would definitely suggest would be to include information on SuperS, Stars and manga-only characters and plots, and to maybe elaborate more on the Outer Senshi's biographies as she did with the Inners'. Good job to the webmistress!
